President Nez is the forerunner of that. He's a great man who cares about his people.. he's in the frontlines of handling out boxes of food to the hungry. I know because I'm Navajo. I live in Phoenix in a house with air conditioning, WiFi, food in my fridge.. I take gratitude every single day.. some might say that I'm not looking out for my people. I am. My grandparents both on my mother's and father's side live on the Rez, my cousins, my uncle's, my aunt's as well. I grew up with an ambitious mother, a very hard working mother. Everyday I feel grateful to be in a stable environment.. and so much sadness of seeing my people struggle..

I’d say 2 percent of them go on to live normal lives the rest of them plain and simply don’t want to work and you can fall that racist but the numbers don’t lie. Something Democrats don’t want you thinking about
@AwsomesauceChase
@AwsomesauceChase 4 жыл бұрын
@@OneManCanStopTheMotorOfWorld partly the substance abuse has to do with the low tolerance and the predisposition they have to addiction from genetics. This began to be exploited when Europeans would sell them booze in exchange for practically all of their land. Realize the poor situation they are in is absolutely due to colonization and they are no way better off now than they were. That does not mean that we should look to the past and be critical of what happened hundreds of years ago but try to offer them support now because it is still negatively affecting them. What do people do when they are in poor situations especially when they are predisposed to being addicted do? They turn to drugs. I'm not saying it's right or justified, but there are reasons and simply they need support, not just financially but especially in their school system. The numbers are correct, but there is context and we should offer solutions. I believe things would be a lot worse without the income they receive. And saying you do not like the Navajo is deeply racist

@@LizardKing360 its not the natives fault. For the last few decades the government has constantly cut education and health care funding... which should be ranked as the top priority. And now when we need it most our government is STILL not helping. They refuse to cut funding from corporate conglomerates who are NOT ESSENTIAL to America. Our entire government is corrupted to the core. The only way for change to happen, imo, is for a new civil war and takeover. It's sad that its coming to this but our government is the worst

It is a tough time here in Shiprock, NM. There are only 13 grocery stores on the whole reservation. We rely on border towns stores and businesses like Farmington and Gallup, which means we are all competing for simple cleaning supplies, food, water, basic essentials. If we can't find in one place we'll continue to travel til we find something. Most of us are not shopping only for ourselves but multiple families, what we do find we share and help one another. If we do find anything. Housing is a Whole othet topic and it's all so frustrating. More importantly the racism has gone up in the border towns and is horrible to see displayed so happily. But I love my people and we are resilient. ✊

It’s crazy how we pay taxes for the state and also another one for the tribal taxes plus donations to help our services like police or first responders then you realize how they managed the funds to keep everything running and most are mismanaged to people who take advantage of the benefits like food stamps and welfare. I highly doubt with that fund it’s going to be in someone’s pocket than help cover the fees for something that is going to benefit them in the future.

Why are there still people without running water? And now the NN was given 600 million by the Trump administration. So... ...why are there still Navajo people without proper running water and housing? Why do the same problems from the past 30 years still exist on the Navajo Nation? I think we need to bring the media in to investigate these issues thoroughly and hold Navajo officials accountable for their crimes.

@@overseer3072 wow you sure won the moral high ground here against a people subjugated into these conditions through the pillaging of their ancestral homes. I'm sure your flagrant immorality is everything you want out of life. Btw, our government is barely any better to us to be perfectly clear, even though the wealth and resources available are produced by us and others in the same class across the globe. Know who your really enemies are.

As a pacific islander myself. I think it's either something in our gene that prevent large scale spread or our region just have less strong strains of covid-19. I'm from West Papua and we have over 400 reported cases, 5 reported deaths. The number of indigenous affected are 12 with zero death. I think there must be some explanations to that.

James Peterson I guess that’s the difference between me and you. I was always taught NO one, owes you nothing you work for it. It doesn’t matter your race, neighborhood, past etc. Hard work in life pays off. I live in a quarter of a million dollar house, drive vehicles that people could only dream of, buy what I want go where I want, two hundred thousand dollars in gold in a safe in my garage and another 400,000 in the bank account. While you wait for handouts. See the difference.
