Ruizhinkaya Elinochka, you are quite an amazing storyteller, and your filming and editing skills are just as impressive, ala BBC documentary. You never fail to impress and take me away with your cinematography, interviews and discussions, as well as adding the food factor in each and every documentary. Molodetz and keep up the great work!

Thanks Eli for another fascinating, informative and visually stunning video! So interesting to hear from your fellow travellers and a little of their life and work. So too of the locals that you met. Former nuclear testing sites at the Monte Bello Islands, Western Australia, and Maralinga,South Australia are still restricted sites and indigenous people among others still cannot go there. The wildlife in the arctic at Novaya Zemlya is beautiful though the polar bear is fearsome and dangerous! It reminds me of the fearsome white pointer shark inhabiting Western Australian marine waters! Stay safe and keep well, John Lampe, sunny Perth, Western Australia.

Another winner video. I remember as a teenager the TV reports of the Soviet nuclear tests on Novaya Zemlaya, including the "Tsar Bomba".
@jackieow3 сағат бұрын
Khrushchev did it purely to scare Kennedy, since weapons that bulky are too difficult to deliver under war conditions and too easy to spot coming on radar. Originally Khrushchev wanted a 100 megaton bomb, but the scientists told him it would do too much damage and create too much radioactive fallout. Even in the "baby" version, it was so huge the crew taking off with it knew there was a fifty percent chance it would kill them. It was dropped via parachute so there would be a delay time to hopefully fly away, but even then it concussed the plane so severely that when the blast wave hit the plane was knocked out of the sky and fell a thousand feet before the pilot could regain control. If you notice the plane taking off with the Tsar Bomba, it doesn't even fit inside so is left protruding. The designation "Tsar Bomba" is an American wording and is not what the Russian inventors called it. The called it Ivan or Vanya or AN602. Similarly the Americans called the first Soviet atomic bomb "Uncle Joe" but that wasn't the Russian name.

"OUR FULL POTENTIAL IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF COMFORT." So true. This is one I am going to remember. We know it intuitively but inertia (natural laziness!) often seduces us into losing sight of this profound truth. Thank you for articulating this reality of life in words. It will now be easier to not lose sight of it.

10:01 The native Indians of North America believed the same type of thing. When their hunt brought down an animal like a deer or caribou, the first thing they would do was have a ceremony thanking the spirit of the animal that it had sacrificed its life to provide them with nourishment that permitted their life.
