Poch is a good Manager Spurs do URGENTLY NEED A REBUILD ,Why is Poch going to return to Spurs Yes you need a complete knock down and Rebuild . THE REAL QUESTION IS WILL SPURS OWNERS SIGN OF ON IT AND PROPERLY FUND IT NOOOOOOOooooo they won't .They will want to add a player or 2 to placate the masses which equals Failure and NO TROPHIES.
@todds4320
@todds4320 Жыл бұрын
This is the "painful rebuild" but too many refuse to accept that means "pain". Levy hired Conte to "change the culture" of the Club. That's a far bigger assignment than the "Painful rebuild" Poch proclaimed was necessary. Changing a culture hurts. It requires removing the snowflake level sensitivity from the Lillywhites on the pitch, andD it requires Levy and the board to change the way they unsuccessfully (on the pitch) have done business for over two decades. While it appears Levy has changed some he still runs the Club dufferently than any other PL Club. Who else brings in players on their own outside of the manager (Spence & Danjuma)? Yes, I believe Conte is not totally free from blame, but if Conte is sent packing he will be consigned, like Jose, to winning elsewhere... and Spurs will return to the Levy-level status quo.

While I've been very critical of Conte and his boring football this season, he is 100% spot on with this, in fact I'd say this is probably the best thing he's done since he's been here. There is a deep seated culture at every level from the top management, to a large number of the players that means at crucial moments, we will fold. How many other clubs have a word for failure associated with the very name of the club? We still have players who haven't been good enough for years, who time and again let us down, we still try to nickle and dime our transfers, we still don't develop or use our youth players. We go through manager after manager yet this problem still persists. I'm not sure what the answer is but I'm glad someone has finally had the b*lls to say it. We have a failure culture, not a win culture.

This struck me a lot like after Burnley where he said he was done using the carrot and it was time for more stick. If he didn’t want to be at Spurs wouldn’t he not show as much emotion? Conte got it right. Not always a fan of his tactics but he was spot on, these are grown men, professionals and they just crumbled. People have been asking why he went defensive at 3-1 and I would say, do you watch Football, do you watch Tottenham, adding an extra defender to a team like ours is smart when we leak goals? Literally, most managers would of locked down the game by subbing in an extra defender. I know we all want to see goals, but as a coach its the wins that count. The question I would ask is how can we not keep a 3-1 lead against a relegation side with the worst home record in the EPL. Players need to take responsibility. Its too easy to always blame the coach. We, Tottenham fans, always blame the coach... Poch towards the end, Mourinho and now Conte... and all of them are world-class coaches with bags of trophies. Players and THE BOARD/CLUB need to take responsibility. How many coaches would want to come to us knowing that the second they get a bad run of games they will be calling for his head. We need to change our culture. Hate to bring it up but look at Arsenal, Arteta sucked for two seasons, but they gave him the time and the players he wanted and now look... just saying.
@blrbrazil1718

By removing our strong attacking threat down the right he allowed Southampton the freedom of the pitch to attack us constantly and since we have trouble defending we crumbled. Emerson would've been better used on the left, instead of Perisic, and Sarr bolstering the midfield instead of Son, who'd become a passenger.

...eagerly awaited video. In the last 20 years we have had some of the best coaches at Spurs that have not managed to motivate trophies. The common denominator Levy, ENIC. I have only been an active supporter for the last 6 years,my son... since he was born.The last five years we have had world class coaches come...fail...get fired or just leave,..common denominator ...Levy ENIC and I add Kane.....however with their respective next clubs, have managed to win trophies the next season, with the exception of Nuno. Me including Kane might suprise everyone ,however he has massive influence on the players and the club as a whole. It is my firm belief that like Ali, who incidentally as now been banished from the squad by his Turkish manager and may only watch the games from the stands,Kane, and some other senior players are spreading a toxic environment in he club. Talking selfish...after Kane scored his header, he could not be bothered to thank Kulu for his exquisite cross.Also a moment in SHmptons area, Son was totally open, Kane chose to shoot against a defenders legs. The look of anger on his face when Porro shot and scored and didn't pass to Kane was typical. Percic almost apologetic reaction to scoring a great goal, with no celebration or congratulations from Kane...unreal. I'm not criticizing Kanes goal scoring ability or talent...totally world class..but it's because the other players make that possible. When not scoring he is dabolical..he has no passion does not commit to help others. This my opinion, harsh as it might sound. Levy talks about Spurs DNA...I think there is massive disconnect throughout the club about what that is. Watching yesterday, it was almost like they wanted lose that game. Players do not play for a manager...they play for the club. Porro who played a blinder in the first half was nowhere to be seen in the second half...was he warned off? Was he looking to good? I have no other explanation. Conte finally made public what a lot of people were thinking and voicing. Kudos to him...people hate the truth...hopefully Levy and the board have the sense to listen

As an irishman, I made an awful decision in 1982 to support the team in the FA cup final in the yellow jerseys. The following 41 years have been mostly pain, with a few glorious days thrown in. I can accept the lack of silverware, and am realistic about our lack of the financial clout compared to the other big clubs, but where has the football that made us all spurs fan gone? Watchong us for 90 minutes has become a penance. Audere est facere has gione from the jerseys and our play, and I've never been more disheartened. Older spurs fans know that this isn"t as bad as the nineties, but it's duller. We're building a team around a system that doesn't work. I've been a Spurs fan since 1961 and a Cleveland Indians/Guardians baseball fan since 1997. Anyone who follows US baseball will have noticed the remarkable similarity between their average club ownership and that of ENIC at Spurs. Essentially, the bottom clubs in each of the 6 different US Baseball divisions make so much money from TV and associated media rights that there is absolutely no incentive whatsoever for owners to invest large sums in improving their squads. The only difference between the US and here is that they don't have relegation to worry about. Here, though, ENIC know perfectly well that Spurs only require the occasional minimal investment to avoid relegation and remain their perennial cash cow. Conte is right.

I disagree with your take (and I've been a Spurs fan since the late 1950s). Once the world class stadium and training ground were finished DL has been backing his managers with solid investment in players. But his managers haven't been able to get the best out of their teams, despite occasional shows of brilliance that just frustrate, because we see what they are capable of but don't produce on a regular basis.

Great point - "we knew he was going to implode at some point" - Most of us knew this would happen, especially since we know Levy and the board won't change...and to an extent, the players. I hope the fans don't divert the anger from the board towards Conte instead. The main problem is the board and the fans need to remember that.

Another great video Ali, at this stage Spurs moto should be changed, to Never a dull moment, its as well your a sports writer & not a book writer, as people would say all the stuff you right about Spurs could never happen in the real world, but yet here we are :)

I am not surprised at Conte’s lament. He has been saying time and again during conferences that players lack nastiness and are not prepared to suffer together as a team to achieve. He now knows that the club will not make 4th place with this mentality and the season will be a disaster for him. Just because players are chosen for the England squad doesn’t mean anything. After all England too suffers greatly when it comes to achieving trophies.

Thanks as always Ali. Talk about the calm after the storm! I could write a long essay full of effin n jeffin about the press conference, but I’m glad you highlighted that it’s Conté’s job to make a team Tony Cascarino suggested Spurs should try Vincent Kompany. The more I think about this idea the more I like it

That’s ironic coming from dier considering he is the biggest problem in this team. Dier is one of the players who we have kept despite him not being good enough in the big moments
@jhardy1971
@jhardy1971 Жыл бұрын
I'm always critical of dier but I don't think the problem is conte. He will put players in situations they should be able to handle when they don't I know he has used this evidence to tell levy what players he needs. He isn't being backed

@@jhardy1971 I think conte is equally responsible for the clubs struggles this season but the recent track record is proof that this defense isn't capable of winning

The problem is I feel like we need a new project and a new project manager, but with Kane and Son aging and maybe leaving we might need to try to get a “win now” to give it our best shot with those 2 great players
