My favorite place to move to in Pittsburgh if I can ever retire and move back. Thanks for highlighting Mt. Lebo!

Unfortunately, taxes are exorbitant. Slipping down into Washington County, or over into Westmoreland County, is, in my opinion, a wiser decision if one is careful with their finances

Didn’t a tax break for retired folks come into play a while back? As in, where you don’t have to pay the school tax portion?
@livinginpittsburghpennsylvania2 ай бұрын
Yeah they are on the higher side! We have tons of people go to Washington County for that reason for sure

@@eightys4ever Retired property owners must pay the full amount of school tax which is 3% of assessed value or about $1,000 a month for the typical Mount Lebanon home. Retired people with incomes less than 30,000 get a 30% discount but it only applies to the portion of property taxes payable to the County, currently at a rate of 0.5%. There is also another 0.5% property tax payable to Mount Lebanon for municipal services. Keep in mind that local taxes in Mount Lebanon greatly exceed the maximum of state and local taxes that the Federal Government allows as an income tax deduction.

@@jaylewis5035 Thanks for the information. Looks like retiring there is out of the equation. A friend’s dad lived in Beaver County, and I thought he said they had a retiree exemption on the school tax.

My sister lives in Brentwood. A stones throw away from 51 and Brownsville rd. That whole area is great. The only draw back is the traffic. But that's everywhere in Pgh. Great video!!!!!

I lived in Mount Lebanon and went to both Mellon Middle School and Mount Lebanon high school back in the 1970's (1976 - 79) Wouldn't mind living there again if it wasn't for the high property taxes

I was born in Mt. Lebanon PA. My dad was transferred so I grew up in California. Is Baldwin Borough near Mr. Lebanon? I love all the trees and the brick streets. Thanks so much for the fun walk the neighborhood video.

Lots of court judges and lawyers live in Mount Lebanon. For some reason many of the doctors have moved south out of Allegheny County and into Washington County, perhaps due to property taxes but also to get larger properties and less congestion for your money.

Mt; Lebo is filled with overpriced old nasty houses that cost a fortune to remodel. The real estate taxes are criminal. The people are weird as Hell. No thanks.
