Yes USC, Mt. Lebo, Bether, cannon mack, all have somethingin common, their white. Got to get out of Allegheny county, the only thing the county government won't steal is a hot stove.

People drive through tunnels in PGH like they are driving into a black hole. I miss the mills, where everyone made money; now only a select few make money. Then all of the outsiders suck, all of the woke people suck,and the city has always sucked. been here 79 years, and it always has. It has gotten too expensive. For those not from here, I will explain how people from here think. We like it cheap and unchanged; that's pretty much it. PGH is really not racist due to the areas being self-segregating. Basically, I don't show up in your area, and you don't show up in mine, and everyone gets along. People don't move to Pittsburgh unless they are moving from a place that is total garbage. Ya, the area has turned pretty much into assholes; it is definitely not the Pittsburgh of the past; it has lost a lot of its feel. If it keeps it up it may lose it's name.

I'm not sure how accurate the idea of a 45 minute commute to downtown PGH. The Squirrel Hill Tunnel really adds during rush hour. Off hours might have a 45 minute commute. How much of the nature is being exploited from all of the new construction? I'm assuming some farm land is factored into the transition on new building. Luckily route 22 being completely up and running does add to the interest in living in the Murrysville area. What differences are the taxes for Westmoreland and Allegheny County?

When you say you can find homes in some neighborhoods for a million dollars and then some neighborhoods with homes for 250k, why do you use that 250k number when I see homes that are 150k and less even? That will be my budget (😔), that’s why I ask.

I was born and raised in Beaver County. 30 minutes from Pittsburgh but far enough from the crime and crap of city living. Nice little towns, suburban areas, and farm areas. Nice parks and local events. If you must have strip malls you can drive 20 minutes to Cranberry or Robinson. Close to route 376 and 79.

One of the cons for me is the large number of small towns and neighbourhoods that seem almost abandoned and derelict. You will be in a nice place and the next town over will look like something out of a zombie apocalypse. Many rust belt places have this type of blight and decay, unfortunately. But many places here do not feel safe to me and you are kind of stuck to getting around in a car. You just dont know what to expect from place to place. Also I have been looking for a very detailed public transportation map of the entire city and there doesn't seem to be one. It is really unfriendly if you like public transportation and spontaneous urban exploring, you need to research before you go, also for safety reasons.
@gauloise6442
@gauloise6442 21 күн бұрын
Like many cities in the USA, Pittsburgh is not public transportation friendly. You really need a car. Even the residential areas of the city seem like suburbs, with mostly houses with yards and then one story commercial buildings. If you like high-density cities like New York or Europe it is very, very difficult to adjust here . But I think most US cities are like this, so maybe most people wont notice. I moved here from Europe and i hate the car culture. I just want to walk for hours in a safe urban environment, but there are only pockets of walkable neighbourhoods and a lot of sprawl.

My aunt and uncle lived about a block and a half off Walnut street. When we used to visit parking was horrendous! All the one way streets and you would have to drive around looking for a spot. A Mini or Smartcar would have helped back then. Their house was very old and very large. The top floor had 3 efficiencies which they rented to local college students. This was the 60’s and 70’s, quite a lot has changed since then.

A gentrified neighbor that started in Lawrenceville and slowly infected the neighboring areas such as Friendship and Shadyside. All of East Liberty is getting it too. Sooner or later its going to affect Wilkinsburg and Homewood by displacing folks who aren't doing crimes.
