Okay, so now I finally know why that area is often called South Brooklyn even though at this time it's in the northern part of the borough. My maternal grandparents emigrated from Italy 100 years ago and first settled on Henry Street. My mother called it South Brooklyn, which always puzzled me. At the time we were living in Bay Ridge which is much further south. I just thought my mom had no sense of direction.

Glad you covered the tunnel under Atlantic Ave. It is amazing to think that tunnel is hidden underneath the street and no one knows about it. Also the entrance is the manhole cover in the middle of Atlantic. Great video as always Tom, I am always learning something new (but I did know about the tunnel before).

Tom thanks for all your hard work put into these vids! I’ve been watching for quite a while, sorry took so long to leave a comment. Life long NYC-er from Queens, would love to be living on the beautiful Brooklyn coast, Red Hook, Williamsburg , Green Point- move in a heartbeat. The neighbors are so cool they’re hot!! So much history, art, food & the architecture and views are to die for! Thanks again for showing us these neighborhoods the Red Hook video you did a while back, along with so many others, was a lot of fun to watch, I really enjoyed it! Can’t wait to be able to go visit myself! Thanks again! ❤

Cool video, Tom. I like that in ur videos you highlight the Native American cultures that were once in the area. It’s sad thinking of the loss of a millennia old civilization once here on the continent. On a brighter note, luv the fall/autumn color coordination at 19:23 and nice closeup of ya at 20:22-looks like an outtake of a movie. Anyhoos keep it great 👍!

Was there last month. Can you explain how parking works? Every space is taken, if you leave are you screwed?
@johnsilva9139Күн бұрын
Well, if you leave, you park in a space near where ever you're going that someone has left empty. Then somebody else will probably park in the space you just emptied, and on and on. I assume most of those street spaces are for residents only. I'm sure parking space on those streets is at a premium. People probably only use their cars if they really need to

I rented 291 Court St. from 1993-97 for $750 a month and paid $850 for 307 Smith where my wife and I ran The Fall Cafe. It’s a glorious place, but probably a bit more pricey now.
