Class 58, Not very common down in East Kent, but did get to see one in Rye in Sussex during very snowy weather. Impressive workhorses.

Excellent work, many thanks for putting this together and to Bob for his expertise too! 😊

These videos are brilliant. It would be good if my local heritage railway did content like this, we're not even allowed to comment on videos 😂

Mr Presenter-please note it is NOT a train, it is a locomotive.
@AtlasBaudelaireАй бұрын
Noted, all of this was all filmed at once so I couldn't change it! Wont happen again....... hopefully

Stop being so picky and enjoy the video! at least we now have a working 58, which haven't been seen active for years.

No checking of engine oil, cooling water, compressor oil etc?

This is very interesting as somebody that has spent many hours doing electrical schematics for their predecessor the Class 56.

Is a plan to get 58023 to the mainline

Hi, would it be possible to access the platforms at SVR Kidderminster without paying to do some trainspotting?

@petersmith4455Ай бұрын
hi, very interesting, how many 58's are preserved ?
@terrier_productionsАй бұрын
Five. 023 is the only one operational with 2 in restoration (016 & 048) with 58012 currently stored. The fifth example - 58022 has been dismantled at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway with the frames being used for the LMS 10000 project although I believe 1 of her cabs has been somewhat preserved..

If drivers have to do a refresher on a loco before driving it - and the locos have been off-the-rails for a couple of decades so NO-ONE has operated one - who gives the refresher course? :)
@hornet1068Ай бұрын
Good question!
@EM-yk1dwАй бұрын
They usually train a particular instructor, (who puts the course together), who then takes drivers for the refresher course. I may stand corrected though! I presume that Bob could train an SVR driver on the 58?
@brianwillson9567Ай бұрын
Full kudos to all involved in preserving the 58. But, that said they were hardly the best locos of all time. Built in expectation (hope) of export sales.....nil. ‘Successors’ to the class 56, but some 56s still in mainline use, others rebuilt for ongoing use. 58s out of use in uk for 20 years. At least a 58 is helping recreate the LMS diesel.

Atlas Baudelaire is a fantastic name. It's a shame the presenter doesn't introduce himself so we can also enjoy it in audible form.

Please check your subtitles for American language ! Colour NOT Color, does no-one check. All this pandering to Americans is somewhat sickening.
