The Galleries is a shopping mall situated in the Broadmead shopping centre in Bristol city centre, England. Functioning as one of the city's retail malls, it is a three-Storey building, which spans over Fairfax Street of the city centre area.

I used to go here when I grew up near Bristol, but moved away nearly 10 years ago. It doesn't look too empty! I heard stories of people saying it is 80% empty. Too bad that they are closing this centre later this year and building a mixed use development. Residential & business use 😢

I'd say more 30 percent empry but that was 3 years ago, no idea what it's like now. I might go and visit in the next month for what will probably be the last time. I used to go in there a lot between 1992-2016. I left Bristol for South Wales 5 years ago but started hating Bristol by the end in what it had become.

@@gowithCheese I lived in Bristol for 38 years, I don't think it's going to improve anytime soon! It's shit now and massively over priced/over rated. You're not one of those pretentious 'cool' people from London who turned up in the last 15 years to 'chil' and thinks it's 'edgy' are you?

Growing up in Bristol from 1981 till moving in 2018, the Galleries looks so desolate. It used to be so busy in the 1990s that you could not move. It started to die down by the mid 2000's as the Mall in Cribbs had been open some years by then and then there was the recession and Cabot Circus and it never really recovered. I am glad I left Bristol because its just a shadow of what it was. Over priced, over rated and full of Londoners. A decade ago I always saw someone I knew but not anymore.

Don’t you think it’s just life changing in itself…like u said new malls spring up after the galleries and I think human like new stuffs better

@@gowithCheese Well when the Mall in Cribbs openen up in 1998, it was competition as you didn't need to go into Bristol. Although I didn't find as many interesting shops there so never really liked it. Cabot Circus was opened in 2008 and I think just added novelty for awhile. You still had to fund parking. Galleries always had the most interesting shops for me personally. Problem with Bristol was in the last half of the 2000s it was full of chains, some had several stores near each other, which were the first to close when things went bad and independent shops couldn't afford the rents. Era of chain shops is over, independent is way forward, Europe is thriving in this. Too many greedy landlords here.
