It's just such a slippery slope to allow practices like EITs have a legal foothold. Governments will inevitably want to take actions that sacrifice certain legalities or moral barriers in order to further their agenda. They are often then forced to hide these from the public, but if we give them a manner in which they can have their cake and eat it too, it becomes extremely worrying. Mitchell mentions that you never want to have people who enjoy torturing perform it, but it's inevitable that they will. They are the people who will reach for and maintain those positions. You just have to draw a line somewhere.

Stop calling it EIT, the only reason why you need to use a euphemism is because you know its wrong. Call it torture, don't hide behind euphemisms. There could be a case to be made that torture is acceptable under certain circumstances, but call it torture. To use euphemisms is to normalize it.
