This last part of the video hit hard, because alot of football fans today don't understand why Cruyff is the greatest manager and football figure to ever exist because as compared to other managers even in that period, he has lesser achievements and trophies but that is because pep said it: it is the hardest thing in the world to start something from scratch rather than upgrade or build on it. He built the cathedral, That is the legacy of Johan Cruyff. And no matter whether people say this style of playing is done or over, Cruyff is so great that his embodiments will be passed on and on and his influences on La Masia will keep on producing the best talents football has ever seen, even if the time doesn't fit anymore. This is where football reaches its peak, with cruyff's philosophy. Even one of the greatest managers in the world, Mourinho has made a name for himself from trying to even beat this type of system back in the last decade. Barcelona is truly the luckiest football club in the world of having this man's mind and full contributions at his last years as a manager.

@@alimakawi1612 Without Cruyff there is no Messi. Cruyff was the most important and most influential player ever. In every pass by Xavi, in every goal by Messi, there is a piece of Cruyff in there. That makes him the greatest.

Cruyff, Sachi and later in Germany, Rangnick, invented modern football. Bielsa could also be added there, but Bielsa contribution has to do more with the mentality and philosophy towards football rather than a tactical development. I would love a Bielsa video btw, his carrer was nothing short of spectacular.

Cruyff deserves this video and every video any football youtuber can create to praise him, im not discussing that, however, I think this video to me is lacking in football history at least as context to the point it distracted me a lot. This is just to add for whoever wants to read: you summarized this history with a phrase on the lines of 'Cruyff didnt change tactis that much in his time' and I agree, totalvoatball was not a invention from Netherlands but from the early Danubian School that was most famously represented by the Hungary National team, that team that made twice to the finals in the early history of the World Cup. The success of the style was already there and the influence to Cruyff came earlier than Michel as Cruyff style's of play was already in place in his youth career. I would consider Michel a continuation that was very important due to their success. On the other hand totalvoatball wasnt an innovation isolated from its context which was both a response and an movement parallel to other great tacticians specially from the Italian school like Nereo Rocco, Helenio Herrera and later in the mid 70's and 80's Giovanni Trapattoni. If your case in favor of Cruyff is that a lot of people has been influenced by him then the same case can be made for any of those lesser known names i just mentioned. If anything Pep has been, very slowly and painfully, being more opened to the counterpart of totalvoatball becuase he had to if he wanted to win as expected: Stones basically playing as a libero in the UCL final? well, libero is an invention of Helenio Herrera, but talking more in general: right and left back adding into attacking? that was an invention of Helenio Herrera (the first left back as we are used to see them today was Giacinto Facchetti, left and rigth backs were used very differently before that, even by Michel), sitting in the back is still a very powerful strategy and it was perfected with catenaccio. I would recommend reading about Herrera as it was as revolutionary as Michel and Cruyff. I do understand why you might like Cruyff philosophy better and thats fine, im just trying to add context to the video just because im in love with fooball history. Take care.

One thing I should note about Louis Van Gaal is that his career is kinda sad tbh. All his life, he held a grudge and tried to be better than Cruyff, as a player and as a manager, and most would agree that he never reached his level in either categories.
@riichobamin76122 жыл бұрын
Why did he hold a grudge against Cruyff ?
@lucaslonchampt6132 жыл бұрын
@@riichobamin7612 Basically, it started when Van Gaal didn't receive many opportunities for Ajax as a player as he played in the same position as Cruyff

"Van Gaal has a good vision of football, but it is not mine. He wants to gel winning teams and has a militaristic way of working with his tactics. I want individuals to think for themselves." Johan Cruyff That being quoted... don't care either way looking at their football being coached, Cruyff's football is WAYYYYYY BETTER!

He won more trophies than Cruyff, and Bayern Munchen credited van Gaal in changing the game for Bayern...The difference between Cruyff and van Gaal, is that Cruyff was not as controlling and dictatorial and he was able to demonstrate what he's talking about with his feet...Cruyff will always be the genius of soccer that no one can match..
