How is a wide open 3 a tough shot? Thank you, Shaq, for pointing out that only Spencer can create his own shot.
@jakkeday1
@jakkeday1 Жыл бұрын
What they are saying is that those wide open 3's won't be there in the playoffs against the elite teams. Those teams will let Luka score one-on-one and stick to the shooters. Eventually, Luka will tire and will have to make tough shots for them to win. He is great so he can do it a lot - but not enough to win a title.

It’s about keeping the defense honest and getting cheap baskets when you can. Those fast break points and even just the attempts add up and they will pay dividends eventually. Simply just trying to work half court sets tho an entire game is tough, you’ve gotta get other players involved and you’ve gotta also give Luka some help with what’s on the roster by yourself, and you do that by running your transition game and that’s what Kenny was saying, everyone in the NBA can look like an all-star in transition, so let them go and earn their own shots every time, and Luke doesn’t have to touch the ball *EVERY* possession, especially if you can generate wide open looks with the fast break game.

If I remember correctly, shaq was spotted watching one of the mavs games. He knows what he's talking about, that's why he be spitting facts. While Chuck here, is just seeing the team from highlights of the game they cover. Dallas has only 2 playmakers, Luka and Dinwiddie. The rest are spot up shooters. They tried using Josh Green and Jaden Hardy but they are just raw on playmaking

This. Chuck is great and entertaining at what he does...but his "analysis" usually involves just what he sees in the studio on a given night. He doesn't even like current NBA ball and hasn't for years....so he'll just grab a narrative and run with it.

Any person who wishes Luka didn't touch the ball as much is living in a dream world, that's how their offense works and there is no other way. I get that they may not win a championship as they are now, but like Jokic for the Nuggets, Luka is their facilitator and it's effective. When Luka is out of the game is when it should run through Dimwiddie and they should play as fast as possible.

on a fastbreak i think there are a couple of thing. Most of the roster in dallas can't dribble and drive for an easy layup. If you run the fastbreak and Dinwiddie or THJ get the ball is one things, but guys like Bullock, Finney Smith, Kleber are not good and they are gonna make bad plays or turn the ball(Josh green could definetely become a starter for this reason if he can be consistence from 3 and with his gamme), i would also try to give more time to Hardy (Dallas need to play more for being better in 2025 than in 2023). Said that Dallas team should try to work on that because with Luka ability to rebound and pass should be easier to make some easy point like denver does with Jokic.

@@DatsjoeYT not much worse. Just barely worse teammates. They weren't soo trash like many of you think, but yeah, they are a little bit worse than these Dallas's players. But competition was also weaker in that era, especialy in the east. There weren't soo many teams that can be championship favourites and there weren't 10 guys averaging over 27 points (6 guys are averaging over 30 points this year). It that era, it never happened. I mean... If KD and Lebron were in their prime this season, both of them wouldn't win a scoring title and both of them are one of the greatest scorers of all time.

You ever watched the Warriors? Ty Jerome isn't a better ball-handler than THJ but they still make him as one of their ball-handler occasionally. Not necessarily to be an assist man, but simply to bring up the ball while the others are doing some motions. Kidd should do and embrace it more to vary their approach. Luka-ball will carry them to nowhere if they really want a championship trajectory.

@@judyclarkson5887 Yep, Jkidd should develop Luka's offball movement.. Im pretty sure he has some gravity in there.. They can be fast with Luka being offball and slow with Luka onball.. I think that would be grwat... My problem is when the ball is not on Luka's hand, he would be a spot up 3pt shooter and the defender would 100% of the time wont leave him alone. JKidd should make Luka a potential decoy in plays when he's in off ball.

Just shows how valuable and how much their offense depends on Luka. But chuck is right when it comes to playoff basketball. Elite teams with elite defenses will figure a way to slow the mavs offense thru Luka. Take the warriors as a perfect example. During mark jacksons stretch, offense revolved around making steph or monta create offense. When steve kerr came in, he put steph off the ball and created the triangle in a 3pt focused triangle. Putting players in a better situation to score immediately and efficiently. A system that gives all 5 guys a chance to get a bucket. Luka is exactly how Lebron was during his first stretch in Cleveland. 80-90% of the offense is basically a form of pick n roll and Luka is just making wonderful plays left and right. I just don’t see it thriving in the playoffs. History tends to repeat itself, I’ve seen it with Lebron in Cleveland. Would be disappointed if they wasted Lukas time like this.
