While kinda predatory to tax something people are addicted to for the funding, even as a rural resident of southern MN and a smoker, I was ok with paying it to get this done and keep our team, but why is the tax still there?! They've bragged about how it was paid off early, so why are we still paying, and where's that money going?! Im ok with paying for worthy projects, but you gotta tell the people what they're paying for... Feel more than a little scammed by the state of MN for continuing to collect these taxes long after the stadium was paid for

The accountability of tax dollars in your state is atrocious. Walz oversees numerous projects that have been defrauded millions of dollars and does little to stop these on going scams while bragging how HE is feeding children.

I think the start of the Domes demise was when Target Field opened and the twins left. There was always a trade off having a duel use stadium. Once the other half of the duel use left and it was souly being used as a football venue the flaws couldnt really be explained away. Then the final nail was when the roof collapsed and they saw TCF bank could handle a vikings game.
@DiscGolf819
@DiscGolf819 Күн бұрын
The Twins had a bad deal with the dome, a lot of the money that was generated by concessions didn't go to the Twins. The Pohlads know one thing, how to make money. It was a very good business decision to get out of a bad dome deal and get public funding for their stadium first.
@RonErickson-w6n

@@RonErickson-w6n Yes and now the bean-counters are the Wilf family, owners of the Vikings. All they care about is money. In fact, they were keeping "double books" while cheating one of their business partners. Facts.

In the dome's heyday, it was doing 340 events per yr. In the 90's, it was the most profitable stadium in the US. It was just not logistically and design wise set up for where the 2000's food demands took us. I was very familiar with the dome for 20 years.

Built on the backs of tobacco users as well. An additional Minnesota tobacco tax was added to go to building the stadium. A tax that non users don't pay. And the tax is still there. Yeah everybody knows tobacco use isn't good for you. But is that really fair? Furthermore i don't think its fair for the entire state of taxpayers to have to foot the bill either.
@roberthannah7719

Wilfs put up over $650 million. More than half. Plus, it added in the training facility and the renovation of the target center. The tax helped pay it off like 17 years early. The tobacco tax was on pre package smokes "big tobacco". Don't like it? Quit, vape, or roll your own.

@@gregadams569yet, the downtown struggles. I love the stadium. However, let’s not pretend that poor political leadership hasn’t offset many of the potential benefits that the stadium could provide. It’s a gorgeous stadium and has hosted many huge events. But, the hotels and restaurants don’t benefit as greatly as they potentially could, in part, because of the rising crime, violence and progressive judicial system.
