@Lisa Surlie I’m a Sam Raimi fan, but Doctor Strange in the Multiverse was not a great movie by any means. At least, in my opinion. The editing and pacing felt extremely rushed. I felt like 20 minutes or so was missing from the film, and that actually makes sense considering Raimi said the first cut was around 2 hours 40 minutes. Michael Waldron’s screenplay is filled with clunky dialogue and very bland story beats. Doctor Strange didn’t even really have a defined arc in the film, so that’s not at all a good thing when he’s the protagonist of the film and we’re talking about a “great sequel.” American Chavez had no real development besides learning to control her powers through the simple and cliche power of “believing.” Also, her quick backstory with the bee was atrociously written and laughable. Of course, the cameos ended up just being fan service and didn’t have any real significance to the plot besides a quick action scene where literally everyone dies within a couple minutes. The only good and somewhat compelling thing about the movie was Wanda.

My hubby and I intend to see the second top gun film sometime within the next 7 days. Obviously I am excited to see this film and I am very happy that there is now a recent Entertainment Tonight feature on the first Top Gun film. It is interesting to know about some of the details relating to the feature of some of the real life navy pilots incorporated for the making of the first film and the details relating to Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer Kelly McGillis Tim Robbins, Robert Lowe, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Edwards Meg Ryan and Cher in connection to this film.

@Lisa Surlie Hi Lisa Surlie I appreciate your reply to my comment, I saw both Top Gun and Top Gun 2 and both Dr Strange films and both are good movie series in their own right. However comparing the Top Gun series films and Dr. Strange series films is comparing apples to oranges because Top Gun deals with military themes while Dr Strange deals with the Marvel universe. Additionally there is zero denying that much meaningful plot development and acting was placed in Top Gun 2 from the continuation of the first Top Gun film. I personally thought that the first Top Gun was enjoyable to watch and I feel that Top Gun 2 was even better than the first Top Gun film in a movie masterpiece type of way and I intend to eventually purchase the second Top Gun 2 film and music soundtrack. However I also feel that there is room to respectfully agree to disagree when it comes to the comparison of the Top Gun 2 masterpiece of a film with other popular film series.

@Lisa Surlie I do appreciate you being civil in your replies and taking the time to respond to my comment, However please know that I do feel that both Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Cruise are both talented actors and it is possible to have enjoyed watching both the Dr Strange 2 and Top Gun 2 films without having to choose between the two

Tom Cruise , Rob Lowe , Charlie Sheen , and Robert Downey Jr were NOT the Front Runners for Maverick in Top Gun .They were NOT offered this role first . The Reason why is these Actors were all under 5" 10 in height actually which was a problem for the Lead Role . Mathew Modine was offered this role first in 1985 because he had that All American Look , Blue Eyes , Basketball Athletic Build , Blonde Hair , Chip on his shoulder Attitude , Over 6 foot tall , and really looked like a Navy Pilot . Modine had been in some critically acclaimed roles around that time as well . He turned Top Gun down citing he was against Military Propaganda movies . So ironically he basically made Full Metal Jacket instead in 1986 , which was a Military Propaganda movie . I personally wish Sharon Stone had been cast for Charlie in first Top Gun . Tom and Sharon would have had major chemistry . Tom and Kelly didn't have that much chemistry really .

Sneaky CHER, being ca 15 years older than these guys, and dating them both. She must have been around 40 at that time. While they where around 25.

I'm sorry, but I don't think TG2 will compare to the original, I bet it will be good, but I'm a stickler for originals

I love the original but the sequel is objectively a better film.

It was great. I just saw it a second time, but it lacks that magic of the original. I guess it's mainly nostalgia, but the plot was pretty weak in Maverick. Some of the dialogue was cringe. The cheesy stuff played much better in the 80's. Incredible flying scenes in Maverick though.

@@vladimirhorowitz i absolutely agree.. maverick is a good film but it really lacks the magic of the original.. theres just something about the original you just cant duplicate it.. maverick is good but its not as good as the hype for me anyway
