How can one start (kind of budget) a private jet business for short hauls from city to city?
@jthebanker422 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. There are companies like fly.surfair.com that have pre-designated routes on specific days and only charge per seat. I imagine this would be a representative example of the type of business you'd like to get into. There are a few options: ranging from lowest cost to highest cost. 1. Become a private jet broker; doesn't require licensing and as long as you can source clients and work with Jet operators/owners. You would become the "middle man" creating a market. (Highest risk being the availability of Aircraft) Budget; 0 - 50k+, with the rationale that if you can cultivate the relationships with jet owners/ fleet operators to get favorable pricing, your only cost would be customer acquisition. 2. A hybrid of being a broker & operator. You would need to reach out to a Jet owner to have exclusivity of using their Aircraft for some fixed fee or percentage. Then you would need to have an operating partner who is licensed and would provide all services relating to the Aircraft & operations. Budget; 50k+; Rationale: There would be a fixed cost just for housing/ maintaining a jet when not in use. Possibly those costs could be negotiated with your agreement with the Jet owner. This might be a better option for city-to-city flights since you'll have a jet ready for use, but you will also have the cost of customer acquisition. 3. Become a full-fledged Private jet operator. You would own or lease your Aircraft, have to be licensed with the FAA. Then provide all services needed to your client. A similar example would be the NetJets Jet card program. They own the Aircraft and sell prepaid cards to their customer at some fixed rate. Budget; $5m+ Most expensive option. You'd incur operational expenses for the business and fixed costs associated with the maintenance & financing of a Jet. For any of these options, you would want to start with two high-traffic states such as Califonia and Nevada. You will also need a defensible moat such as offering special perks to flyers, discounts on future travel, free neck massages, lol. Having special bonuses should be used for client retention, so people come back, but if you're just starting, focus on selling/ getting clients.
