I think he didn't die a virgin but because of his background and childhood, he probably had a skewed perception of the world that made him less likely to indulge UNLESS it was an absolutely serious relationship that he intended to take to marriage. For instance, Stephanie Mills (his GORGEOUS chocolate drop) said they never slept together although she was used to seeing him in his undies. This just tells you that he really was a gentleman (I mean, have you seen how he kisses girls on the cheek or that performance of "You are not alone" where the fan fainted and he picked her up, like a gent).
