One thing is for sure. Ukraine is showing that during short range engagements these things are invaluable. Small enough to go undetected easily yet strong enough to bring a sizable boom and all from an air perspective making concealment of enemy from these almost impossible. This will have an impact on the future battlefield. I am curious to see the worlds militaries as they integrate drones to an even better effect.

Correction FPV drones are not used for surveillance, those are the larger $1000 drones which have features like auto hover. Some even have thermal optics which are on par with the ones found on some Russian tanks

seen some of the footage of these drones on reddits r/combatfootage and god its so grim. Half the russian soldiers just sit and give up or off themselves when a drone holding grenades shows up they know they cant fight it, they cant run from it, and they cant shoot it as most have highly inaccurate improperly cared for weapons. War is Hell.

Jammers can be defeated. Ukrainians, or one of their friends will figure that out. Also, variable frequency transceivers can be deployed for flight. As an example fighter aircraft transceivers are rarely jammed.

@@owarida6241 Yes, the Russians would have to be careful with jammers. Targeted laser and maser beams for drone defeat would be quite effective. The US and Russia used to use them to blind each other’s pilots, but I think it’s against Geneva Conventions nowadays. Viva StarWars laser systems from the mid eighties. Those things destroyed satellites in milliseconds. Beam steering is the choke point. Very difficult.

Damn, never whould've thought that I would hear my hometown on English speaking KZbin. Too bad the reason isn't a happy one. Another thing that the author forgot to mention, or he did and it just flew over my ears, is the fact that Russia's drone production is extremely centralized. The reason is corruption of course, but the consequences is the fact that Russian drones have the same frequency and to change it they need to go through bureaucratic hell, which makes the jammer job easier. Another recent development is the 'Lock on drones'. They are not AI, because as mentioned in the video those are too complex and expensive. However once they are in the air, the pilot can choose the target and even if the drone get jammed, it will still reach the tarfet on it's own.

I am not able to understand why spend so much money on drone jammers when the drone attack can just be nullified by covering the tank with a cloth or metal mesh structure. Ofcourse it would make the tank profile a little bigger maybe be by a few inches or maybe by a feet. But would prevent the tank from grenades being dropped in the open hatch or things like the shaped charges which will also detonate on the mesh and may not be close enough to penetrate. They could also cover the tanks with wood planks like the Phillipines army did against ISIS.

After war is over, Ukraine needs to work on training nato army to become better and ready for if Russia try's it on with NATO. Alone Ukraine experience alone should be free pass and skip all requirements to join eu and nato.
