This rifle can handle any load .357 you care to shoot. There's no 'concern' about the action linkage, because in the 'fire' position the lever causes the linkage to be nice and straight so that any recoil energy is transferred to the frame, which is the secondary reason they designed it so that it won't fire without the lever and linkages in the proper position.

@kennethhamby9811 Жыл бұрын
I ran across one (made in 1892) cal. 44wcf (44-40), that was pure original from the receiver to the butt plate, a Winchester 94 ,16 in.carbine barrel and mag tube had replaced the original barrel. Shoot great ,is strong enough for all smokeless loads. Very accurate out to 200yrds. Open sights
@robertrobert79243 жыл бұрын
Personally I don't like the safety mechanism. I find all grip safeties distracting (Colt 1903 & 1911). I think I would shoot my uberti 1873 more often if I could remove that mechanism without causing any problems. I shoot my Henry and 1866 most of the time. I have collected Uberti lever guns in 44-40 and 45 LC. I prefer 44-40 because it is more accurate and the slightly necked case expands into the chamber to keep powder residue blow back to a minimum. I really enjoyed this video showing the guts inside. Much better than a schematic. Also, you have a very clear and well paced voice, so my deaf ears understand everything you say. Keep up the good work.

I like the Model 1873 much better than the Model 1892. To me they're easier to disassemble and reassemble, and just as reliable. And being as simple as the 1873's mechanism is, it's still a design of pure genius. The toggle parts of my Miroku Winchester came from the factory with almost a mirror polish. I use it sometimes for feral hogs, but the .30-30 Henry is what I use most.
@missingthe80s58 Жыл бұрын
The originals were tested to destruction by Winchester. The data is public. They muzzle loaded the barrel with primed brass in the chamber, super heavy charges including ultra fine black powder dust and dozens of bullets on top. The action didn't suffer damage until it reached something that would damage a Sharps or Rolling Block. In other words, it would easily take 3 times the force a .44 Mag would produce (beyond .44 Mag proof load) before damage will occur. This with old original low grade iron they had available in the 1870's. These modern rifles aren't made with your great great great great grandpa's steel, these new rifles are made with modern alloy steel and will take .44 mag forever and outlast you, your kids and grandkids especially given this is a toy to you, not a saddle mounted work gun being used day in and day out killing pests on the ranch and if it is and you are, you can afford to replace it in 10 years because it's a work gun not a safe queen. I used to believe what the stank old nuts on the internet claim, then I began reading reprint books, writings and such from the period and what that data tells is absolute opposite of the "sage" bullshit that perverts modern gun forums.

1873s are super smooth and beautiful. In my opinion they are the most attractive lever action not the strongest but I think they must be more than strong enough. Think about it they were sold for almost 50 years during a time where people used them on a daily basis for survival defense and hunting. I'm trying to decide what caliber I want. I'm thinking about the standard for the time 44-40. I know it's not as powerful but I think it must get the job done it was the standard for many years almost 50. I think we are brain washed thinking bigger faster but that is marketing. 200 grains of lead at 1300 fps will definitely do the job otherwise the cartridge would have never made it so long. I'll shut up now! Lol Great video beautiful rifle thanks 👍

The lever safety blocks the trigger. You can see the block move out of the way when the safety plunger is depressed by the lever closing. These are lovely rifles. I have no problem with not knowing everything. I have a problem with incorrect descriptions of how a firearm action operates.
@chapiit083 жыл бұрын
That's a safety feature to prevent out-of-battery ignition, once the lever is fully depressed the gun is both in battery and ready to shoot. For that reason I know that a .357 magnum 1873 replica made out of modern materials can easily withstand hot handloads which increases the effectiveness of that caliber out of a long barrel.
@chipsterb49463 жыл бұрын

@brianlee68493 жыл бұрын
Have you ever compared the pins on this toggle link to the pins on the Miroku Winchester? Just wondering because I know you Uberti offers a Winchester 73 in 44 mag. Just watching your video depends do appear to be larger than the pins that I've seen in other videos but it's hard to really compare without seeing them side by side. I think Uberti beefed up their Taco link system to be able to support the pressure of the 44 mag. Thanks 👍
