@@jimmyrecard5056 No. The people who come to this country legally pay shed loads in visa fees to have the privilege of working here. Allowing them to work will just encourage more illegal entry into our country. We have one of the highest minimum wages in Europe, and this will just be another pull factor. They are supposedly asylum seekers, not economic migrants. We have alternative routes for people who want to work here legally including many short term visas/seasonal visas for shortage occupations.

@@KJ-js7pi So you're telling me that people fleeing war shouldnt be allowed to come here for refuge? Or that they should be but they cant work but then you will complain that they get stuff for free? These people arent coming illegally, theyre seeking asylum which is completely legal, just because the government has cut off legal means to get here, doesnt make it illegal. Once they arrive here they apply for asylum (again which is legal) so why shouldnt they be able to work if they get their asylum request granted? Theyre not illegal and if they are illegal then their asylum claim wouldnt be granted so they wouldnt be able to work, so how does it promote illegal immigrants coming over if they cant work without a valid asylum claim? If you really cared about stopping illegal migration then you would want to put a legal process in place for desperate people who dont have passports or means to make legal applications like those from more developed countries. Tell me how someone from Afghanistan who has no documents, money or access to internet can apply legally? I'll tell you, he cant because we have closed all other avenues. If you really cared, then you would support putting in place a proper system in France to apply for asylum, which has been proposed many times but our terrible government have denied. If we had a proper system in place, then why wouldnt we want confirmed asylum seekers working here and contributing rather than being housed by the tax payer? Surely thats the ideal scenario. It sounds to me like you are just against providing any refuge for the desperate, but ofcourse the Ukrainians can come over because they are lucky enough to have documents & technology to apply by legal means but not all do.

the duplicity of the government foreign policy is on show for all to see. They have an immigration policy that allows asylum seekers because they need a second class workforce, whilst at the same time parroting about the need to stop people seeking asylum. Clearly aspects of this immigration policy are troublesome to some communities in the UK, why are these concerns only used to feed into the narrative of the political theme ? and really, if the people don't want mass refugees? have a word with your government to stop bombing and exploiting these nations to such an extent that the people are forced to flee to find refuge elsewhere.

Uh-huh, so end the war in Ukrainian, by all civilized means, ASAP. End western support for the war. War makes refugees. It wouldn't be so bad if Ukrainian 'refugees' (it's known that some have returned to Ukraine for holidays or exams) weren't being treated as 1st class people compared to low economic class brits. E.g. Councils up and down the UK are collectively spending 100s of millions of £s building/renovating relatively posh homes for Ukrainian refugees while 100s of 1000s of Brits languish in unsuitable housing, with little prospect of being suitably housed any time soon.

We live under the yoke of a regime which appears to consider us - the British people - a mere obstacle, and a bitterly resented one at that. This regime will allow us no more opportunity for hope, comfort or fulfilment in our lives, than is necessary to keep us from mass disobedience while they manage us out of existence as an identifiable people. Globalism devalues a population, to the point of making it worthless. If mass immigration was banned a government would have an incentive to value the population which it ruled over. As it stands the endless flow of human capital allows that government to view the native stock with complete indifference, if not contempt.

Asylum seekers shouldn't be allowed to work, because otherwise you muddy the waters between economic migrants and asylum seekers. BUT that means we have a duty to process them quickly and if they are granted asylum (i.e. they are no longer asylum *seekers*) then you should at that point be granted a work visa valid for the length of your asylum approval. Otherwise you get people languishing for months and years unable to work and support themselves and then you drive anger about what they "get" from us when we have so many people struggling here. This is not an accident. This is an active ploy by successive govts to keep a handy scapegoat distraction on hand. The current govt have gone much further and much more blatantly then earlier govts, mind you. Its the fuel for the divide and rule engine.
