The entire time I was like, "Has Daryl never heard of text messages or using rubbing alcohol instead of water?", and then I was thinking about how my dad once sent me a video of using some alcohol based product to treat swimmer's ear on my sister, and after pouring it into her ear, a spider crawled out. I slept with earplugs for months after that. Great narration, Doc!

About this creepypasta I didnt realy liked the ending. I hate when a creepypasta is a hour long and it only happens in one setting, has way too little characters and the ending explanation/plot twist is one or two sentences long with no build up to it whatsoever, is like introducing a plot twist only for the sake of having a plot twist.

Good shit. Most authors forget that monsters in and of themselves are not particularly scary - it’s about what they represent, be it the fear of the unknown, or in better cases like this, the human mind’s tendency to turn on itself. I’ve heard a story with a very similar premise to this, where a man develops a “parasitic twin” on his back that speaks to him and gets him to nurture it, but the story goes nowhere and just ends with the man describing how gross the parasite looked. This story is a much, MUCH better take on that idea because it goes beyond just boring body horror that we’ve seen a million times already.

Aside from your GOD like voice, what manages to make this story incredible is that it generates curiosity. I am not afraid of spiders one tiny bit, but I really liked the story, made epic by your unique narrative standard.

I like that the author left the end up for interpretation. I think the pain and irritation from the spider in his ear was driving him to madness. So much so that he started hearing a voice. This would explain the water fear and the heat fear because when people hallucinate, the voices can say some pretty odd things. Thanks for the wonderful story Dr. Creepen. And I have to agree these stories are pretty scary.

Regardless of if y’all think it’s scary, or anything similar, but I for one appreciate this as a well-written story (broadly speaking); and his narration is great, really, but Docs’ taste in what to narrate is at least as impressive imho. The long ones like this, I usually save for the weekend to relax with some Manischewitz, get stoned and play around w/ the dogs while I listen... had to start this one already, but no reason not to hear it a few times, lol For the curious: Manischewitz makes a Jewish sacramental blackberry wine, try it if you like sweeter wines/liquors like eiswe in, reisling, chambord, non-dry port, etc. the abv is 11%, which (for me) lets me drink it sans water or mixer and not get hungover... big props for that, may be property of fruit fermentation. Pardon length, if text walls were structural, I could be Bran the Builder, Leonidas, or perhaps just Wall-guy. Autocorrect wanted “wallflower” lol.

NASTY! I could have serious side effects from spider bites, a bite on my thigh left a hole almost to the bone. I'm still seeing wound care because it's still 1.1 cm deep. I was expecting it to be a cockroach or something equally as disgusting but a spider is my worst nightmare. I'm sufficiently grossed out at the notion of having any kind of bug, spider or otherwise in my general bed radius. Ya know how they say that everything's bigger in Texas? I've seen June bugs that could carry away a small child, I've got black widows, and brown recluse spiders and a bunch of others like wolf, bananas, and tarantulas. Also, copperheads, rattlers, and water moccasins to boot, but then you dump buckets of scorpions and fire ants on top and you're right in my back yard. I'm going to have nightmares about this one. 💜 MUCH LOVE 💜

God, it's incredibly hard to root for the protag. He had so many, many opportunities to regain control and fuck over the parasite. One example among many: it doesn't have a great grasp of English, so when it told him to say "fine" over the phone, he should have LITERALLY done that: just said "I fine. Fine. I fine." to make the parasite think he was obeying while simultaneously making it extremely obvious that he was not okay. He could have said something like "Blink twice." then abruptly hung up, and she could've made the connection that that's a common phrase - "Blink twice if you're in danger." Etc, etc. The dude's an idiot. / Edit: 47:20 "He knew he did all he could do..." Are you kidding me??? Oh, yeah, holding a water bottle above your head and monologuing for 3 minutes straight about how "I'm gonna do it! I'm totally gonna pour this into my ear and I'll be free! Watch, I'm gonna do it..!" *Checks watch* "Here I am with all the painful drawbacks of pouring it in, combined with none of the benefits of pouring it in! Better stay like this for another minute or two!" Fucking unbelievable. I'm kind of hoping the parasite just kills the protag at this point. Darwin would be pleased. Ah well. Questionable plot points of the story aside, your narration was fantastic as always.

Completely agree, the Antagonist is too-often the foible of otherwise solid stories, and I like stories that blur the line between external and internal Entities as Antagonists, as (imho) this tends to make for a complex tale, and either will be done well enough like this or just be obvious garbage. Managing to convincingly encapsulate a real sense of Adversity sans actual didactic interaction is truly amazing to me. Doc pinned the 10-ring & the author is fucked up enough to make these interesting. Keep em coming, y’all!

I thought the Heavy Rain story was an excellent post apocalyptic tale but agree with those who say it wasn't especially scary. Some defecit of my own imagination is to blame perhaps. But this one - to quote every hack horror critic that ever penned a blurb - goes straight for the jugular. A non stop joy. Thanks doc !
@teddydog62295 жыл бұрын
A blurb reading 'Goes straight for the ear' would appear a bit daft but accurate. It's not the crushing agony and horror perfection of 'Into The Maw' but I loved every minute. I hate spiders too but I feel my thinking has evolved on them a bit. They are utterly alien. If we're honest we admit we have no idea what's in their minds. Most importantly they outnumber us millions to one. So in spite of their clusters of dead black eyes and creepy symmetry of their legs in motion I suggest a detente. If spiders found a way to communicate they could wipe us off the planet in a month. Just think what perfect terrariums our lungs make for their hatchlings. Dark, warm and moist. So we must learn to understand the ways of the spider, breed with their women, and in time our differences will be forgotten. Ok I nicked that from Family Guy but while we may never like the spider our species has made enough enemies and none are more potentially dangerous. I urge everyone - stop killing spiders. We don't have to be friends. We just have to leave them be and I suspect they'll return the favor. Declare jihad on them and what do you bet they won't go quietly. But they'll approach and swarm without making a sound. As a lifelong arachnophobe I say let us live in peace beside our eight legged neighbors. I have spoken.
