Currently 26 years old. Starting my journey with cancer this year. One year after I lost my dad and uncle to cancer. I’m very lucky that I have the cancer I have. It’s more treatable compared to others. It doesn’t mean that it still doesn’t take everything from you. My heart, lungs and neurological system will take major damage. I risk having my fertility damaged. Losing your health is the most humbling experience and I hope to go through it with as much grace and understanding.

My dad recently found out he had stage 4 colon cancer. He didn't find out until it had spread to the rest of his organs. Saddest part is, due to his alcohol addiction we werent able to see him most of our lives or didn't want to, and now hes scrambling to be with us before hes gone. Ive been having mix emotions about it ever since, but have chosen to be close to him for the remainder of his life. So far, i have tried to talk to him many times but have been left ignored, and its eating away at my mind wondering if he even wants me there. Cancer is a nightmare, but most importantly, it's sneaky. Right now we feel like strangers meeting for the first time, but I'm hoping that as time goes by, we will become closer and he will see me more as his daughter than he does a strange friend.
@AriasHerbsАй бұрын
I'm sorry you're going through this. I know it's hard but it's worth connecting with him **as much as you're able to** You have to still protect your own mental health, so don't sacrifice that just because you think you have to talk to him or visit him. I didn't live close in proximity to my dad so we texted a lot. He was impossible to talk to on the phone and seeing him in person was too painful. So text worked for us. Something is better than nothing, unless that something is damaging to your mental health. Good luck 🙏 ❤
