Playing as 11 years old and as 22 years old is difference as hell and heaven. This tendency in modern football (post Messi) is just to grab attention. Now every kid scoring goal in some local match gets compared with Messi/Ronaldo. Things changes when kids grow up. At this age, it means NOTHING. It is a long long way to go. Have seen many many kids even leaving football at the age of 16-17 due to pressure, earlier who thought they were next Messi at the age of 12.

Hugo Fernandez is nothing compared to Francesco Camarda. Two years ago the whole world knew Camarda as a top scorer at the age of 13. he scored 247 goals in 40 games in 2017-18 172 goals in 31 games in 2018-19 and 64 goals in 16 games in 2019-20 for a total of 483 goals in 87 games, at 5.5 average goals per game. Stop giving the title of young Messi or young CR7 to talented young players. I've heard it so many times. Bojan, Mbappe, Halland, Ansu Fati, Odegaard, Joao Felix, Vinicius, Martial and many more but not a single player can match Messi and CR7 at a young age. Not yet!

I hear you all but imagine this... A new age where the youth championships are near as popular as the main event. Where a youngster scores 60+ goals per season with just as some much scrutiny as he would receive in his entire professional career. Boy becomes man quickly. Learning to keep up with his rising standard at an early age. I don't think we'll wait for too long to see another golden era. Think about the kids you have followed since the social media age: Messi was displayed and talked about way before he debuted professionally. But let's be fair for a moment and think about more recent times. Xavi Simons instantly springs to mind, Lamine Yamal couldn't keep it hush for too long either (I recently just seen a youtube challenge video with 13 yo Yamal, he looked like a deal then).Maybe it's just a Spanish or Barca thing, Irdk. But who can argue that it does not work? Mbappe and more especially Haaland were not really hiding away as kids either. I think it is just a new age. Perhaps a positive leap in the sport, rather than a bad one.
