Zachary Levi (Shazam!, Chuck) goes deep into his mental health journey this week, opening up about his realization of just how ‘ungood’ he was despite the accomplishments and great things happening in his life.
Zach goes on to share his newfound understanding for the dopamine he received by working and how during this pandy he’s had a more clear realization of just how much self worth he receives from his career.
We also get into the super power of vulnerability, keeping perspective of your own mental health, and Zach’s take on his position in the DC Universe.

Fun Fact, Zachary Levi is the only actor to be in Marvel Universe, DC Universe, Disney Universe, Star Wars Universe. Also, The VGHS Universe, Halo, Fall Out, Robot Chicken and Lego Universe. Pissed me off when they killed him off so easily in Ragnarok. Been a fan since Chuck days.

This was a great episode that touched on a number of things I'm trying to work on. Really identified with what Zach was saying about depression feeding negative thoughts and making you interpret things that happen through a negative lens. Also with the dopamine rush of a purchase and how that fades and makes you want to get the rush again. Thanks for continuing to speak about mental health in an encompassing way ❤️

Yup. I feel this so freaking hard. I have had to get multiple root canals. Literally and figuratively. Also, I ended up in the ER once because I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out I was having my first (but definitely not the last) panic attack, and I was so embarrassed and ashamed, but the doc was the best, because he assured me that it was a real, physical thing that was happening to me and it wasn't just "in my head."

I started being a fan of Zac with Chuck, like many of us. But I could never imagine what an amazing person he is and how much good he has brought to my life. It takes a lot of courage and humility to open up yourself like that for everyone to see, hoping you can bring some light to other people’s struggles. I don’t know any other celebrity who has managed to be this open and this private at the same time. I don’t know much about his personal life/ love life/ day to day life like with other people who share it in social media. But we know your heart, because you’ve always being so incredibly honest and open with it. God bless you Zac, and thank you so much for being who you are and sharing what you’ve learned on your journey with us and for fighting the stigma against mental health issues. You’ve helped me to be more kind and understanding with people in my environment who struggle with it. I’ll keep you and yours in my prayers

Helping people and being successful at work has always been a driving force in my life, and the change in how I work has really pushed that feeling away from me. Zachary Levi continues to amaze me! I love how totally open and raw he is without being judgemental, just straight up and real, talking about all the things that most folks shy away from because of as he says the "stigma". Humans are much more complex than most people realize and there are many ways in which we need to address how we care for ourselves. Thanks as always Rosey for bringing great guests to the podcast and getting into the nitty gritty showing listeners that we're all human, we all have problems and that we can all learn from one another. 2am in the uk and i saw Zach was on the podcast so i couldnt go to bed. Chuck was one of the first things i revisited when lockdowns first hit and in interviews he always makes so much sense. I have struggled with these issues in last few years so its nice to see celebrities drop the facade and share more than they have to. Keep the pecker up even if you dont use it guys. Thankyou

Thank you so much for bringing attention to mental health problems and de-stigmatizing them. It helps to know that people like you, Zachary Levi, & Brandon Routh, people who on the outside seem like they have it made, also struggle with depression and anxiety!

Thank you for the open and positive conversation about medication for mental health! I think mental health conversations often come across as "you can be healthier if you just work harder." Sometimes brains are born broken and no amount of work fixes them.

Thank you Zac for explaining how dopamene works. I suffer from PTSD and depression etc, now I have some tools to use to help- to set goals big or small to accomplish and feel better. Depression makes it hard but I can focus on the small things. I use to be on Celexa but it stopped working and had adverse reactions suddenly. I've tried Zoloft and that as bad. I gave up on the meds because i got tired of the initial two weeks of trying a new med and side effects. Hearing Zac say how it's about realizing you can't give up and to keep trying till you find the right med for you inspires me to try again💖

Zach is always the greatest guest. Even if one doesn't suffer from clinical depression or has been diagnosed, we can all relate and learn from his experiences and insights. I love his rapport with Michael. Thanks for another great episode.

Wow I'm empathic too and felt the same type of crap he did last year and it was totally weighing me down. So glad to hear his story and his openness.

BEST! INTERVIEW! EVER!! As a licensed professional counselor (LPC), I am in awe of how you and Zach not only share how your respective mental illnesses impact your lives, but of how you guys share some of the strategies and insights that have helped you.

So awesome you guys talk about mental health, so many people are going through something related, whether thats depression or anxiety etc. As a graphic designer I have definitely gone through seasons of depression and I'm like, I wish there was one answer on this is how you deal with it, but to be honest it's so different for everyone, some people need meds, others just need therapy, for some it's changing something in your life. Also Zach is great, always been a fan of his work and who he is as a person.

Having someone who is known to be open up about their mental health. It is freaking awesome. Because it makes everyone realize that we are not alone in feeling down or having the problems and that people are not alone and that someone is there for us. I am here for everyone of you all. We all should love and care about and appreciate each and every one of everybody.

Every time I listen to a new episode it gets better and better! Zachary dropped some great gems for people to listen and heed in their own lives and, if possible, share with others you know and love, especially at 42:15. ::saving in my Watch Later playlist::

As a fellow empath the only solace in such an angry world is the fact that I've been quarantined in Michigan. I don't think I could stand to be in a crowded theatre or concert with people as fractured as we all are these days. I love these deep dive episodes with Michael and Zach and always learn so much from them.

Loved this episode for so many reason's. Both you & Zachary are so inspirational and I appreciate what it takes to talk about yourself especially when you have anxiety when all you want to do sometimes is crawl inside your own skin & close the zipper forever. I've missed Zachary's Instagram posts so much even if it was just a sunset or him playing with the dog's because he is such a light and I always felt at peace when I would watch them. When he stepped back and took a break from social media It left a hole & I missed it so much which sounds selfish I know, but after watching this episode It's understandable why he took that break & I appreciate him even more now. Sending love & best wishes to you Zachary & Thank you 💜💜💜

So many nuggets of pure gold have been gleaned from this episode. Thanks, guys, for sharing your honesty with us. As someone who has struggled with mental health - especially anxiety - Zachery's pearls of wisdom are exactly the kind of information, I need to hear right now. In fact, I can relate to much of what he expressed (being work-centric, not loving oneself, etc.) and will now reconsider how I can apply small steps in making things somewhat more optimistic. Thanks again, and stay safe.
