Is it possible that the UK fodd seems more "bland" because the additives allowed in food is more restrictive?

I agree that biscuits by themselves are too dry, but that's why we usually add sauces or gravy! The KFC biscuit is supposed to be eaten with butter & honey, or simply dunked into the mashed potatoes & gravy. Also, the best breakfast biscuit sandwich from McD's is the sausage egg and cheese. The grease helps make it less dry. Also, if you add the breakfast salsa on it, or simply drizzle a bit of syrup inside it, that helps a lot as well! I hope you'll try American biscuits again one day and add some sauce, gravy, butter, jam or honey (depending on what you're eating with it) on it next time!

There are regional specials for places across North America, since it's so huge. For example, on the East coast of Canada, you can get lobster sandwiches and other lobster products year-round. "Canadian bacon" is basically peameal bacon. It's a pork loin, not belly like most bacon so it's a lot leaner.

The double cheeseburger became too expensive for what used to be the dollar menu, so they came up with the Mcdouble to replace the double cheeseburger. That extra piece of cheese cost almost an extra dollar when they first came out, and don't get me started on the breakfast sandwiches. Apparently an egg costs upwards of $2.00. A sausage Mcmuffin is a dollar, and a sausage Mcmuffin with egg is $3 and some change.

Brits are always so comfounded when seeing an American biscuit, they keep comparing them to scones, but we have scones too!! We know exactly what you think a biscuit is and it's just not that. A scone is seen as a confection and is usually eaten by itself or with a beverage like coffee or tea (for what's called a "continental breakfast") Scones will often have fruit incorporated into the dough and be iced with some sort of sweet glaze. It's seen as a breakfast item/snack more so than a dessert. A biscuit is basically a piece of extremely buttery quick bread. Often it accompanies dishes and is typical to food from the American south. Biscuits are much saltier and more savory compared to a scone but because of this they can be eaten with sweet garnishes or savory garnishes. They're not usually eaten by themselves. It's common to put butter, honey, jams, and a milky sauce we call "country gravy" (a bechamel-like sauce made of milk and a roux based in pork fat). The addition of eggs and meats to a biscuit to be eaten as a sandwich is decently modern and more common in a fast food setting since the form factor is very convenient for someone on the go. A scone being used this way would be quite weird, I agree, however this is not a scone.

The fact that Americans think everything is ‘bland’ when actually it’s just that their palates are so accustomed to the overload of sugar, salt and other artificial flavours and colours that are jammed into their food… 😕 Also, I know the answer as to why Americans have a bunch of grape-flavoured stuff and we don’t! It’s because we use blackcurrants, which until very recently (like last year) were banned in America due to some disease that spread among ribes. They started using grape as a replacement ’purple’ colour/flavour and it’s stuck ever since.
