You can tell Dustin had fun making Kenny pay for talking shit about Savio Vega. There are a lot of guys in wrestling history who aren't appreciated for both their talent and their willingness to give to the industry by helping get other guys over, and who usually never get the credit they deserve except from the guys they worked with. Savio Vega would definitely be one of them. And Dustin himself is definitely one of the more underrated legends of the industry- Goldust was arguably the harbinger of the Attitude Era's edgy product, even before Mick Foley debuted with Mankind or Steve Austin became Stone Cold. And as much as he gets overshadowed in conversations by the main event draws like Hogan and Stone Cold and Cena, or the master workers like Michaels and Hart and Flair, he really is one of the best who ever lived, just like his legendary daddy- probably an all-time top 50 guy at least.
@backnine393 жыл бұрын

Partially because 30 years ago the whole industry was the wild west. Vince didn't have a board of directors to answer to, he was the top of the pyramid. If Vince did something that only Vince approved of, well that was just how it was. Look at joke characters like The Red Rooster. 1 person in the entire world was amused by that shit but it ran for 2 years.
@warrenmasonjeffs67123 жыл бұрын
He stepped away as any sane person would, to have a life. Remember at the beginning they would run a & b shows and he would only show up to televised tapings and they were running 95% of the shows east of the Mississippi and hell east of Fort Wayne Indiana really. Linda stayed away from the traveling circus. The product caters to children and sponsors and have been that way for most of the promotion. To me what’s odd is levesque & Stephanies refusal to step away from the limelight and just go raise a family, nonstop on tv and traveling it’s really odd narcissistic behavior. Shane gets it and goes off to do other things even if related to the business.
@justjoe8112 жыл бұрын
I mean, ya gotta remember that Vince is in his mid 70s, I dont see too many folks that age being able to just hang with guys in their 20's and early '30s. All the attitude era guys were also younger than Vince but they still came up in the same old school wrestling mold. These folks now, they just have come up in a different era. Those attitude guys came up as wresters, these guys are "sports entertainers".

It made sense because of the rivalry Vega and Austin had in 1996. Austin beat Vega at WM12. Vega (disguised as the Carribean Kid) beat Austin on an episode of WWF Superstars. Then there was the In Your House: Beware of Dog 1 & 2 shows. The first Carribean Strap Match when the lights went out. Vega must win or be Ted DiBiase's chauffer. The second one upped the ante: Austin wins; Vega becomes the chauffer. Vega wins; DiBiase leaves the WWF.

When you really think about it, it would be even more interesting how Vince Mcmahon came up with this gimmick

Savio Vega had the match with Goldust that put him over. The character was racy and creepy very flamboyant. It was at that time shocking to see that kind of character in wrestling.

@@michaelnugent9758 lol that story about Roddy piper had me laughing so much. My favorite part was at the end Where he's talking about the getup he got at a fredricks of Hollywood where he says: "I gave the suit to his son...not the lingerie. I don't even remember what happened to that I wish I would have kept it" 😂😂

The Goldust gimmick will always be one of my favorite characters. Dustin Rhodes and Savio Vega both are very talented and great wrestlers!

Its great, I got hooked on these stories because I was such a avid fan back in the Attitude Era and its almost a physical law of WWE nature that its impossible to do a bad Vince McMahon impression.

WoW Great Show !! At the time I had stopped watching wrestling just didn't have time for it. I remember seeing Goldust on TV ringside on accident. I instantly feel in love with this character. Wish I would of had more time back then to watch him wrestle. Thanks for the video you have a wonderful day!

Golddust was a great character, because just when the WWF was about to go bland...meaning striping gimmicks from wrestlers Dustin was taking his gimmick and rolling with it. It was a little to adult themed considering all the kids what watched, but it was truly a good gimmick and he knew what he was doing with it.

Through the gimmicks, Dustin was a solid worker - the character just made it that much more entertaining. Much respect to him for carving his own path, especially knowing now that he was on the outs with his old man, and no doubt struggled living in Dusty's shadow.

Vince tried to humiliate Dusty, he also tried to humiliate Dusty’s son. That’s the real reason Vince made him “Goldust” A family vendetta.

How ironic that the same guy that hated Savio Vega has to be him in a reenactment. Lmfaooo.

I legit laughed myself into a fit at the end where he does the impression of Vince standing over him on the floor taking his Goldust suit off! 😂
