The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) offered high school students and teachers a cost-free opportunity to learn about the college application process on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 5:00-6:15 p.m. ET on Zoom. This session provides valuable guidance for academic and career journeys. The distinguished speaker is Joann P. DiGennaro, Esq., Center for Excellence in Education Co-Founder and President. She is a nationally recognized authority on successful applications to institutions of higher education.
Distinguished Speaker:
Joann P. DiGennaro, Esq. has dedicated over four decades to advancing STEM education across the globe. In 1983, she co-founded the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) alongside the late Admiral H.G. Rickover, with the mission of supporting the development of high-achieving students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As president of CEE, Ms. DiGennaro is dedicated to nurturing students towards excellence in both STEM and business, while fostering international collaboration among emerging leaders in these fields. The organization, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), has built strong educational partnerships with 56 countries, including landmark initiatives in China, India, and Saudi Arabia.
Ms. DiGennaro’s contributions to education have earned her recognition as one of the top 100 U.S. Women Leaders in STEM by U.S. News and STEMconnector. She has served on numerous academic boards, including Purdue University, George Mason University, Shimer College, the Keck Graduate Institute of Life Sciences, and the National Defense University.
Internationally, she has led efforts such as the Saudi Research Science Initiative at KAUST, the first co-educational STEM program in Saudi Arabia. She holds degrees from Purdue University, the University of Maryland, and George Mason University. She completed additional legal studies at Oxford. She was also a research affiliate at Harvard.

Devin Simmons is the Manager of CEE’s STEM Lyceums program. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from George Mason University in 2018 and a Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2021. He has a passion for highlighting the numerous career paths that STEM education can lead to by showcasing the real-world applications of STEM and sharing success stories of individuals who have forged exciting careers in these fields.
