When it's books it's not hoarding, it's a library! (I'm right there with you Jo)

Richard Rohr's book on the Enneagram is the best of them I've read. He phrases the types as a "Need To..." So a number 8 is a "Need to Be Against" (i.e., the Challenger), and number 9 as a "Need To Avoid" (i.e., the Mediator).

Had heard of enneagram before but not really paid it much attention tbh. Myers Briggs had me covered with INTP but I saw you were doing this so decided to do a enneagram test. It said 5w4… and it is strangely accurate and also something extra Myers Briggs didn’t give. Will definitely check it out more. Your “oh, yes” at wise/foolish… oh yes 😂 … and I’m not a hoarder of comfort books, I am a connoisseur of collection. If buying things and squirrelling them away just for the pleasure of having them is fine for art and wine collectors, it’s fine for us too 😂

It's only hoarding if you never plan to read the books you buy. Just remember to give these treasures a place to rest, which means on a shelf and not by vertically spooning each other. I think I am also a 3 and a 5, but I also feel very divergent in my thoughts and actions making the enneagram for me more of a horoscope that your trying to make come true to give yourself comfort in life where change is constant and the successful learn to adapt. I like Claire's positive attitude and I don't think you would have someone on your podcast without reason, even if it's pure curiosity. I am currently listening to Bird by Bird from Anne Lamont with mixed reactions.

I love Bird by Bird, I remember reading it before I wrote a word for publication and it really encouraged me!

@@thecreativepenn I just finished listening to Bird by Bird. Maybe because it was recorded now that she is 30 years older, but her dry humor to me made it more of a tragedy then a comedy. The start was slow and some of her stories were difficult to listen to see where she was going, but there was enough realism of what to expect as a writer's life emotionally and financially to make it a worthy listen.

First off, I love the work you do Joanna. I'm not critiquing your show at all, I'm just finding this need for authors to use what I call "corporate astrology" really weird. For some people it works/helps and that's great. But after spending years in a cubicle farm where people get hired/fired based on this information, I just can't see it as anything else anymore.
