Guys I'm just wondering how to deal with the sand in engine bay after a beach drive? I took my brand new Subaru Outback to the Bribie. It did surprisingly well. Never bogged. Except the sand in engine bay looks crazy. I'm thinking to upgrade the suspension plus a 2 inch lift. Is it gonna work? or have a metal sump guard? Thanks
@mdutchy25825 жыл бұрын
lol My friend does this a lot. I would say one out three jobsites, he will get his 4wd truck buried in sand. Thing is, I can clearly see where the sand is soft and where it is driveable/parkable. Evidently he cannot. Its the usual scene. He gets out of the truck, slams the hell out of the door, flings his sunglasses off into the nowheres and begins a cussing seminar that brings every contractor out and staring in awe. No he doesn't air down even though we use a compressor for every job and no he doesnt lift his foot off the pedal until he is firmly mounted , axels on the ground. Its the truck at fault. I have to remember to record it!!!

I can’t really blame the idiots in their all wheel drives, because the way these things marketed and lied to by unscrupulous salespeople is just plain wrong. The Pathfinder didn't even need much throttle. He obviously aired down properly so got plenty of floatation. So only needed gentle smooth power and momentum.The Landcruiser was wasting his time. Couldn't even get any drive himself so impossible to pull out bogged vehicle. Once your wheels are spinning you need to stop and air down to as lowest-10 - 12 psi. Otherwise end up with a burnt out clutch

Here in 🇿🇦 our beaches are all peaceful because beach driving was banned here and in neighbouring Namibia and Mozambique 25 years ago. Watching this just repeat all day long entertaining but frustrating. Big boys and their toys too lazy/stupid to let tires down enough or do manual labour and dig when that’s the right thing to do. You can also hear them using low instead of high range. The two tone vehicle near the end showed how much easier it could be, but the OKES in the sedans/soft road SUV,s😳

The red car is hilarious! In reverse rear wheels spin, and in forward front wheels spins!😁
@ericl29694 жыл бұрын
That car had open (non-locking) differentials so for each wheel that spun, the wheel on the other side did not, so it wasn't a matter of front versus rear. There was always one rear tire and one front wheel spinning - it just varied as to which side did which, and that kind of variation is not such a rare thing to see. As a side note, that's the norm with solid axles with open diffs, because solid axles put more weight on one side than the other in response to torque applied by the drive shaft, with the result being that diagonally-opposite tires have more load (and the other diagonally-opposite tires have less, and they are the tires that slip), and that diagonal arrangement reverses itself depending on which direction the vehicle tries to go (this is not the case here since it's an independent suspension, but something to watch for on other vehicles with open diffs).
