@naceks

@@stormyj98 when you come to off road always let the air out...go to 1bar (cca 14.5 psi) to be on the safe side - safe in a way so you your tires stay on the rim... in extreme conditions I usually drive off road with 0,6 bar (9psi) in rear tyres and 0,7bar (10psi) in front... That is if you have off road tyres - with a lot of side wall...if you have road tires, ... ... ...

@@stormyj98 Unfortunately, people get joy from watching others fail. See the popularity of this video. We all had to start somewhere and part of the process is getting stuck and getting yourself out. My ute with AT tyres goes OK on sand at around 18psi but there have been times I've had to drop to 13. That makes me a little uncomfortable being that low because I am concerned about dropping the tyre off the rim. Others have tested this and posted on youtube but still makes me uneasy. All of this seems very dependent on your vehicle and tyre. People who say categorically that you must be at this or that pressure may not know what's best for your set up. I am also a big fan of recovery tracks. As an example, we were at South Lefroy towing a camper trailer and the sand was very deep and soft in an area you couldn't keep up much momentum. Anyway, we were at 18psi and got stuck. Dropped to 15psi, reversed a couple of meters onto our tyre tracks then just crawled out without any aggressive acceleration etc. I know your comment is an old one but perhaps this might help someone else who's unsure.

I had a 2012 Forrester (sti premium) driving that was like a 2stroke, turbo cuts in, off it went with the tyres down...traded it in for a X5 (for work purposes escorting vips)..in the dunes in Lancelin WA, was going up and through them where a 79 series couldnt climb...and what I will state is...Ive been 4x4ing for over 40years since i was 8yrs old in a 4cyl turbo diesel CJ8 jeep and driven, raced (Dakar) and what will say is the X5 (40D 3L twinturbo, 220kw/650nm) was one of the most capable 4x4s Ive ever driven. The awd system is fkn amazing, it automatically goes from 60% rear, 40% front up and down till when all spin it goes 50 50 and all wheels lock in similar to front and rear lockers. The modes like most to free it up was hold down stability button and abs for 10 seconds turned all aids off and the xtrack.4x4 system front and rear locked and could turn! I got a free $900 service from bmw.when had bet with BMW shop owner that i knew something that no other bmw shop or even hq knew about the auto door opens by button remote, but knew how.to close tail gate remotely too..BMW said BS, we know and theres no code in ECU...till.showed then press 3x and hold keyfobs open tailgate button and closed itself. BMW gave me access to anything in its shop, grabbed couple $550 bags, heap other shit (wasnt that much stock so.took 1 of most item there...on condition kept my cakehole shut. In beach sand, all driving aids totally off... NO other 4x4 could match through beach/dunes (even 4WDTVs Simon Cocksty's supposedly highly worked 4.8 Nissan Patrol).. ....BUT...mud, ruts, EVEN bogged on wet LAWN FFS with the factory fitted 340 x.75x.20s.was useless... Drink up fellas..cheers to all in this group..🍺🍻🍺🍻🍺

Why don't people want to let their tyres down? Is it a dick size thing?
@andrewsnow7386
@andrewsnow7386 4 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelAnderson-ng6bt I think I have some serious answers for what might not be a serious question: Note, I drive deep snow -- not much sand -- but low tire pressure is just as important. So here are some reasons people don't lower their tire pressure: 1) They just don't know how much it helps. They may have heard about doing it, but never tried it and they just don't comprehend the huge difference it can make. 2) They don't have a pump to reinflate their tires. 3) They think they have. That is, they normally drive there truck with the tires inflated to the max pressure for the tire, often 50 or 65 psi here in the states. So they drop the tires to 30 psi (or something like that) and think they have aired down. They don't seem to understand that the tire is still basically round at this pressure, so they haven't gained much. 4) They are concerned they will de-bead a tire. 5) I've heard this for ruts in snow, but it may apply to sand as well. "I'm already dragging the underside of the vehicle. If I lower the tire pressure, I will drag more." True in some conditions, but often not the case.

@@andrewsnow7386 yea all good points mate. I am worried about rolling the tyre(tire) off the rim but I've been down to 15psi on bitumen with no worries. I guess you have to try these things. Just today I was driving on soft sand with 20 psi instead of 15 and I was struggling.
@andrewsnow7386
@andrewsnow7386 4 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelAnderson-ng6bt Oops, I hope I didn't offend by not using the appropriate spelling for tyre given the videos location. :) I actually considered whether I should put the pressures in Bar, or MPa, but I remembered other 4X4 videos from Australia where they spoke in psi. Anyway, in deep snow (often over a meter deep), I commonly run at 5 psi -- standard rims, no bead locks. With some old tyres that I got used, I would occasionally de-bead one. But, since I bought brand new tyres (around 5 years ago) I haven't had one de-bead even running as low as 3 psi. I think tyres with good clean rubber at the beads -- not ones where the rubber has been scuffed by repeated mounting and dismounting -- stay on the rim remarkably well. Of course, I still keep my speed very low when I have the tyre pressure down this low.

I think it's time you blokes spend some of your youtube money on a decent air compressor so you can deflate your tyres when you get there to help people and do Land Cruisers proud. Then you can pump them back up at the end of the day. I do want to thankyou lot though for grabbing my outboard support and delivering it near the barge. Had absolutely no idea I had dropped it. Comforting to know that left to right isn't any better than right to left! Just having trouble understanding the submersible equipment. Is THAT for when the tide comes in?

Did myself a little experiment on a job site the other day. Reversing a tradies trailer up pretty powdery sand to site. Tried 40 psi (gotta try right? :)) , didn't get two meters. Tried 25 and struggled but got all the way. Following day did 18 including the trailer, just walked up, with no hint of slip. Tyre pressure is god.

try 10 psi :) just be careful when steering... around 15 psi you will have no problem if you have offroad tires...

I don't understand the need for trailers. Are they gonna live on the beach for an indefinite period? It's like dragging a U-haul just to go beach camping. Oh wait, there's actually someone dragging a big-ass trailer home.😂😂😂

No need but they have everything to make it a nice trip. I think for some it’s nice to just unhook the weekend setup when they are done and just drive to work.

It's where the barge goes to Fraser Island!? I can't understand the Kings Awning craze and roof top tents!??? The best time to explore nature is at night! So WHY setup your vehicle to camp in when you can hook up a camper and go whenever & WHEREVER you want!?? You can get supplies on Fraser Island but it's very expensive because this is how you get there!? Coming from Redland Bay which is the gateway to Moreton Bay where the barge still goes to the Bay Islands but not Straddie anymore, as you leave from Cleveland these days. We like the remoteness!!!

I've tried to go back to very secretive tracks i love from 30 years ago and have found the main entrances closed to mitigate further damage when do we bring in a license for professional 4x4 users similar to MR and HR flick this guys the are destroying

Nothing will change because the QLD Gov have closed off so many known 4x4 tracks around greater Ipswich/Brisbane region, turned them into hiker/bike trails and housing development, that there is little to no place to go anymore other than Bribie, Kenilworth, Rainbow Beach, Moreton, Fraser, you get it.
