Hey, I might be completely wrong but my textbook says that phenolphthalein is colorless in acid and it's pink in alkali and if it is neutral it will again be colorless. So, when you initially add the indicator into the acid present in the acid the indicator will be colorless but when you start adding the alkali from the burette it should turn pink but that pink doesn't mean it's neutral as you said. For it to be neutral shouldn't it turn colorless again after turning pink due to the alkali which was added. Let me know if I'm wrong :)

how do we know which method to use like metal+acid or stuff for titration ??
@SciencewithHazel4 жыл бұрын
You have to learn the table which tells you whether the salts are soluble or insoluble etc. Then learn which method to use for separating each type of salt. I’m afraid it’s one of those topics where you have to remember a lot of detail!

When you say react the solutions together did you just mean adding the salt to the water?

how can u tell the difference b/w and endothermic and exothermic reaction using and equation? is the forward reaction always exothermic??
@flamango19826 жыл бұрын
if you're doing O levels, like I am i.e with CIE system, then they give us the enthalpy change in the question By the way, I just gave my final exam for O levels chemistry two days ago and they asked us a question to find out whether the reaction is endothermic or exothermic , so I can not be sure whether my answer will be correct or not ( I pray that it is). Maybe we might know the answer to your question once CIE uploads the marking scheme.
@TomPope035 жыл бұрын
It will always tell you either which reaction is exothermic or it will give you the enthalpy change and if that's negative then it's exothermic and if it's positive then it's endothermic.

I got told that for the insoluble salts you have to react 2 solutions, say it is silver(x) chloride(y), then you mix x nitrate, and the sodium y. I'm confused why you haven't said that??
