And on a funny, sidenote, today we were at a musty, old estate sale. The lady working it stopped me to say how nice it was to see a woman wearing a dress. And how rare that had become. I told her that I was part of the movement of women who were incorporating that back into their lives, bringing back femininity. She said how refreshing it was!

Just what my heart needed on this cozy rainy day. I’m watching you with my tea in my hands and my blanket covering my legs. Oh Nikki, aren’t we so blessed to be women? You remind us of the joys and pleasures of being a feminine woman. You are a blessing and a gift.💝

Hi Nikki! Beautiful dresses ❤️ I usually am up and ready early in the mornings but this particular morning this week I kept my pajamas on. It was raining, so I asked my son if he wanted a ride to school. He said yes, so I threw on a sweater, no bra mind you and we had to get out the door. My heart was pounding out of my chest thinking oh my gosh what if his friends see me or a teacher wants to talk to me or if I get into a car accident. We live a couple blocks away, but still…I was braless!! Nothing happened, praise the Lord. Needless to say I will never be doing that again. Your not the only one with those thoughts lol 😂

I have a story. Many years ago when my children where in school, we had a day where we were running late. So I decided to drive my son to school figuring I would just drop him of in front of the school and he would walk into the school to his class. But no! There we fire-fighters out front, they were doing an assembly, and I had to get out of my car and speak to the firemen, and guess what I was wearing. Big fluffy bunny slippers! lol. It did not stop there. I had to take my son into the assembly where the whole school was! lol I am sure I was the joke of the day for many people.

I loved hearing your experience and although I will be seventy this year; I remember the time back in 1974 and I had been married almost a year, when one day we were completely out of milk so I quickly pulled on some clothes and ran to the nearest grocery shop. Just as I got there I literally bumped into one of my brother’s best friends and he, while quickly looking me up and down, said ‘Well, you definitely look married’. I instantly knew what he meant and was so embarrassed about my appearance, I vowed never to go out looking that way again. Here, in the U.K. it is not unusual to see Mothers taking their children to school while they are still wearing pyjamas and a dressing gown/robe or even go to the local shops. I know that my own mother would have been horrified at hearing what was said to me; as she instilled into me and my brothers....’You only get one chance to make a first impression’.

Nikki-after a year of carefully curating, a wardrobe of mostly dresses, a few weeks ago my husband and I were doing errands and I wore jeans and my vans. He was so delighted and said “you look nice!” 😂😂. This from my man who generally doesn’t notice my outfits. And rarely appreciate my beautiful dresses. Not that he didn’t like them, he just didn’t notice them. We have been together for over 35 years, since we were teenagers, wearing vans, skateboarding. I laughed and said this is the outfit you like? He replied, “you think you’re very a vintage dress person, but this is who you really are,I think.” so I’m going to make a point to where vans more often, because that’s the girl he knows. Not this maturing evolving woman. He supports and adores her too, but that’s not his “girl in the vans”.

Beautiful Article by Sandy Lyndsey. I live in NJ and what I see on the regular is Women young & old with tights, sweat pants, extra large hoodies, pajamas and their indoor fluffy slippers rain or shine. In the Spring, it's oversized hoodies were you can't see if they are wearing any bottoms at all. For the life of me I cannot understand it and likely never will. It actually gets worse every year. I am OK being the difference and standing out like a sore thumb in my beautiful dress.

Hi Nikki. Thank you for your inspirational videos. When I was a little girl I was always loving to dress up and I had a thing for red shoes. My granny would always knit and sew clothes for me. both my grandmothers were good influences on being well put together from an early age. My mother also dressed well when going out but at a later stage she has lost interest as she suffered from depression. when I was a teen I would take mom's sewing machine and make my clothes and I learned to knit and crochet as well. I would page through magazines to get inspirations from fashion. growing up we were not well off so that is why I learned to sew and knit. Now in my senior years, (64 years old) I still love light colors just like you, and love everything about the home decorating and being lady of the house, even if I have an outside half day job. I love all your videos, and have been following you for a while. by the way, my younger daughter's name is Nikki.

Hi Nikki, Color is so important! You know immediately when you wear a color if you feel good. I don't wear dresses but like to wear colorful tops with a cowl or drapey neckline. I always wear a necklace. So I always look a little dressed up but it's because I am wearing a top that is a mostly out of soft materials and feminine.

I have been feeling the same way! All the heavier knits, darker colors… I have been folding them and putting them away in my off season bins. I want warm weather so badly! And then, we got hit with a foot of snow! So I had to pull a few things back out 😆 But I have been wearing more yellow, orange, and coral, and it has been such a blessing to my mental state! Colors really do help! I just have to layer with cable knit tights, cardigans, or scarves, but I am ready for Spring to get here. Thank you for sharing the Articles of Dress! I almost jumped in enthusiasm when I heard it was from The Epoch Times! Sometimes I feel like I am the only lady I know who has a subscription there. ❤ The past several years, I have shifted to nearly entirely wearing skirts & dresses. It’s so much more comfortable, and I feel confident and put-together. While I thrift almost everything I own now, I do have a several skirts and 2 dresses from the modest company “The Main Street Exchange”. They are my favorites!! I constantly reach for them. Your dresses are so beautiful and elegant. I love seeing your peaceful, soothing style. Mine is definitely more along the lines of a Safari adventurer or vintage archeologist, with some Australian boho thrown in. It’s shown me that I can dress a little more utilitarian and rugged and STILL be totally feminine. 💛🧡💛

I’m 61 Nikki, I’ve started wearing dresses again two years ago because of you and some others. After living through the feminist movement I saw nothing good come out of it but maybe a little money. So we sold our souls for a not so better place in society and a few more pieces of silver. Like I said, nothing good came out of it. I saw my lovey and very feminine aunts turn into power hungry vipers that just split up family. They talked my grandmother into wearing pants which never really complimented her. I was shot down so many times for wanting to keep a home, be a good wife and mother. Women just turned into not so nice people. You are doing so much more than you think for society. Thank you for giving permission to women to be what what they were born to be. God uses us as his tools to do good for the world. You my friend are allowing him to do such a wonderful thing. It’s funny how bad things almost always go back to good after God allows them to crash. You give hope to future women and for us older ladies that didn’t feel good about the feminist experiment. God Bless you and your family.

Great video, Nikki! I don't think I'll ever figure out how to look ladylike while doing grueling physical labor! My husband and I love doing hard, dirty work around our house and yard, and I always cringe when neighbors stop to chat while I'm such a mess. I can definitely relate to the article about just running to the hardware store for something. Against my better judgment, I usually just hope people understand I'm in the middle of a messy project. When work is done, getting all cleaned up and putting on something cute feels so good, and I have the satisfaction of a job well done!🤗

Funny that you're talking about it - in the wintertimes I come along with only a few clothes, too. I haven't count them, it might be something like ten. But last summer I realised, that I need more dresses as I have. Because I change them daily up to three times, like when they got dirty from working in the garden, or from sweatening so much. And sometimes just because I felt for it. I like the idea of wearing long dresses at home only. I haven't bought one, yet, because I don't like wearing long dresses or skirts, when going outside. The dress you were wearing in the video has a beautiful flowerpattern! Yes, of course, people only surprise me when I'm not prepared - either if it's me, not dressed up or the home not tidied up... I broke the little toe of my right foot over a week ago, but had to take the dog out daily. I never meet someone, when I take the dog out, but these days, of course, when I had to wear my homeslippers, and didn' t feel to dress up correctly everybody was up on the streets. 🙄😂

We are French, and my Grandmothers and Mum were always so nice and presentable at home. I never saw them with a stained or warn out garment on, and if their aprons got a stain they would wear a clean one after the job was done. So I learned well, and enjoy looking nice any time. But my Dad would also tell us that a beautiful, kind smile is more important than anything else! So if I'm "caught" in a "DIY outfit", or in my pretty dressing gowns early in the morning, I don't feel bad, because we are human so can't be perfect all the time, and I greet who ever sees me then with a warm smile, grace and happiness to see them. 🙂🥰

Hello Nikki, Thank you for nice video and advices, i totally agree with you, i wait so much for spring too, i found winter was so long this year..about clothing you are totally right, first it was a good surprise, seeing you ironing, as most of people in the videos nowadays ,they don't iron clothes, they wash and dry clothes and fold and that 's it, of course for some clothes it s ok , synthetic, but if you wear cotton , linen or good material, you have to press , steam or iron for the best look ..Here in France it s also terrible the amount of people who do not care now for the way they look, mostly the young one and what about the shoes..terrible..it s a pity to me .Dressing nicely is a mark of respect for others and yourself ..about colors, for me i think green is not a flattering color, even dark brown, i also love pink, soft blue, white, beige , soft yellow colors, your dress is beautiful, Thanks Nikki for that video, have a nice weekend 🌼

And i live in a quite tradicional country, or it was that way... This times are confusing, lots of cultures clashing, strange "trends" and blind parents. I was shocked and sad. That said, beautiful advices. I'm trying to built my dress collection. And i had to pause and laugh when you said for us folks to be careful about the colour we pick. I went for a beje dress. Great cut. Bad colour. Now i don't know what to do with it. Its very cozy and warm, but i look like........ pale in it, and not in a good way!! I will try to rotate it out of the closet! Oh, keep it in the meantime. Wear one of your “colors “ near your face. A white scarf or necklace…or a brightly colored floral scarf. Whatever your flattering colors are, wear it close to your face to flatter you when you wear the beige dress. Also consider a bright sweater or jacket . Your choice isn’t necessarily a mistake that can’t be improved. Have fun! Best wishes

A lot of parents don't want to deal with the pushback they will get. I can understand about the color, especially with a dress because it sits against the legs as well which can make them look washed out. The one I'm wearing in today's video isn't the best color on me but changing the buttons made it better because there was less contrast. It's a great dress for layering under a colored coat or sweater.

Hi Nikki I always can't keep up presentable with myself and I would like to know how do you keep yourself presentable even when you are in a hurry or run out of time. Also tell me how do you create your thumbnail with that watercolor sort of picture, please let me know. I just love it!!

I found the majority of mine from Poshmark, antique shops or thrift stores.

A few days late, but I just have to jump in here. Due to your influence Nikki I at the senior citizen age have really been feminizing my wardrobe over the last few years. People have noticed. Have I converted to the dress only world? No but I do reach for a dress more frequently. I Usually wear pearls of some sort. (A southern girl you know always has pearls.) But I recently decided to live in Flagstaff AZ (a well defined mountain town) part of the year. I am 10 minutes from a ski resort and spend most of my time in the winter in the mountains hiking or at the ski mountain. What a difference dressing is. I now spend a lot of time in snow pants, snow parkas, snow boots etc. (Still with my pearls and hair done under the ski hat.) What is this rambling saying. When I go back to my suburban home in Illinois I move back to a different type of dress. I still feel feminine and modest in both worlds. That is my goal. Pearls and bit of lace make a difference in modest dress.

I agree. I don’t want to see what you wear to bed. You’re being lazy. You can wear pants, but enough of the torn jeans, and sweats. How you dress reflects how you think about yourself and the person that you are with. Little effort suggests not caring. I take pride that while my husband dresses more causally at home, when we have company or are going out, it’s dress jeans or khakis and nice shirts. I never fail to thank him for how he is dressed. We are dressed up compared to others who are shopping or in eating places. We aren’t really, just dressy causal. I agree with the author, be the example. Crop tops and jeans do not belong in the office. Let’s bring back dress codes back. Poor dressing is distracting. What college girls wear is shocking to me. I’ll say it, they look trashy which is not what a young woman wants to project. I truly think that they don’t know any better. Let’s be an example. As a “vintage “ woman, I am shocked by how seniors dress nowadays. I truly think that it’s laziness. Thanks for sharing the article , Nikki. It is noteworthy.

Oh yes I am so willing spring to get here soon! It's really cold here in the UK atm! I've been caught many times like that Nikki "unprepared" but one stands out to me was I didn't make church one Sunday as I wasn't feeling great so just put on some old leggings & baggy t-shirt ! Then our friends from church decided to call round to see how I was! Well sat there in those clothes no make up hair all over the place I really felt like a fool 😂

Oh, but that wasn’t your fault! You weren’t feeling well and weren’t expecting guests. How kind of your friends to stop by to check on you. They understood your appearance, since you weren’t feeling well. And believe me, all of us have moments when we wished that we’d made more of an effort . It balances out all the other times that we do make an effort!😁 Best wishes from the USA 🇺🇸

You were in your right to be as you were, especially not feeling well. I will say though, only keeping beautiful loungewear and dressing gowns means that's all we will reach for and while sick or just around the house, we love our choices. This choice made the biggest difference for me.
