Showed my 8 year old son Sebastian how to load a roll of film into a Nikon FM2. Took me a while to remind him he only has 36 shots and I sent him out with a 20mm F3.5 AI lens to shoot some shots. I did give him a quick lesson on using the focus screen but told him to shoot wide shots at infinity and I set the aperture and shutter speed to F4 1/125. He shot about half the roll of film and wants to finish the roll by the end of the week and get the roll developed. Such fun! That inspires me. Thanks Ali for you wonderful down to Earth 🌍 channel! Love from 🇿🇦

So nice to see, that my digicam collection is still relatively moderate in size compared to your list here😇 Personally, I'd love to see what you think of the old DSLR cameras in your list as they tend to still be reasonably priced...

I love your energy - thanks for sharing your passion! I picked up an E-PL1 as a 'family' camera based on your enthusiasm, and I'm so glad I did! I went on a short hike with my 5-year-old daughter and she was so into using the camera and took some great photos! The sensor on that thing has such a beautiful quality. I can't wait to do some shooting myself. (I've got a Nikon P6000 on the way too)

I like your channel, especially the community with Lucy Lumen, snappiness, Sophi Lee and others. Also also fan of Mattias Burling, Zenography, and the Shakespeare of All Camera reviewers, Blunty, from 7 or 8 years ago when he raved about c-mount lenses, Pentax Q and Pentax MX-1. If you haven't tried it yet, do the original Ricoh GR Digital from about 2008 with 8 MP sensor, can take no larger than a 2 GB SD card and shoots RAW but takes about 15 seconds to write to the card. But the pictures it takes are pure Tri-X in b&w. I also like the Ricoh GX100 with a zoom, terrific macro, and you used to be able to get it for $100 with the external titlting viewfindeer.

Cool to see and hear of the interconnected camera worlds. Both film and digital! It would be useful to maybe link through all of these other channels you and others were talking about? Kind of tricky to search them in this KZbin algorithmic world. Hmm!

Irene Rudnyk is also worth a look. I use the Lumix 12-50mm on my E1, the lens that came with the L1. I think it makes the E1 shots even better, especially b/w.

I just recently watched the new experimental horror film Skinamarink and I found the cinematography and overall look and vibe of the movie to be massively inspirational. They achieved a gorgeous retro/lofi look by using a camera with wildly good ISO capabilities due to limited light sources and around 40 noise/grain overlay textures per shot at any given time and the final result is just beautiful. The trailer itself is one of the best I've seen and will give you a good idea of the vibe. Now I want to see if I can achieve an even remotely similar style with my Olympus C-740 or Nikon Coolpix p5100 haha.

I'm really into the slideshow format, I always love seeing the photos you get with various cameras. Also, shoutout to Walter Murch! Conversations was one of my textbooks in film school, one of the few that I kept. I need to dig around and find my copy, I had forgotten about it! It's been almost 20 years, I'm probably due for a re-read. And regarding inspiration, I get a lot of my inspiration from film. Film is where I learned about composition and storytelling, and I try to bring something cinematic to photos that I take. Whenever I'm in a creative rut, there are a few go-to movies that always spark something. 8 1/2 is one, True Stories is another. Recently I watched The American Friend by Wim Wenders, and the cinematography in that blew me away, it's probably one of the most visually beautiful movies I've seen recently. With regards to the LX100, I had one years ago and had trouble really gelling with it. I got some photos that I love with it, but always felt like I was waiting on the camera. Specifically the lens. It always felt so slow to extend when you turn the camera on, and slow to zoom, and I felt like I would miss shots. Ironically that's why I tried the Fuji X30, I wanted a manual zoom more than I wanted the bigger sensor. I pulled my LX100 out of the camera closet a few weeks ago to see if I feel differently now. I do agree that the files were crunchy, and fell apart in bad light much faster than say files from my Olympus EM5II.

Whoa that is so cool that you know The Conversations! I love Wim Wenders; thanks for dropping that inspo in. My LX100 just arrived today so I'm excited to reunite and see what I think of it all these years later.
