Loved to see the rack components - I'd never heard of D-Zone but I'd heard of Tonewinner. Smart choice to use that for the Atmos and the better power for your mains and perhaps surrounds. We've been seeing so many amps now offering asymmetric power rating for speakers with higher power output reserved for the LCR. AVRs sort of do that where you see some delivering 200watts in 2 channel, then dropping to 100 watts for 7 but they don't reserve power thereby allowing an Atmos overhead speaker to get the same power as your front or center channel which makes no sense. You could probably power the Atmos speaker with a few 9 volt batteries yet your $4,000 AVR is treating it like it's a Klipsch LaScala.😁 I'd love to see AVRs with Class D start allowing asymmetric power distribution where they set the LCR to have 200 watts apiece and the other channels share 400 watts. Not all speakers are created equal.

Still to date one of the absolute best home theaters I have experience had the 212s, but Tony spends a ridiculous amount of time calibrating and has a fully acoustic treated room. It’s impossible to compare to different speakers in two completely different rooms with two completely different systems and completely different acoustics. There is nothing the 212s are lacking except if you were running them just in a two channel set up with no subwoofer. Then I would go with the 215s.

So was always looking for an alternative that features a similar compression driver. The JBL Synthesis has been crushing it since they've been released. I do believe Ascendo speakers are all compression drives as well. I'm sure you can't go wrong with either to pair with JTR. Heck, maybe I'll go with 3 RTJ towers in the front and JBL SCL-2 for sides and surrounds and for atmos use the SCL-3's. I've also read and heard from people that have owned both JTR and JBL M2, that the JBL M2's are insanely good. Might have to put those on the short list as well. So many choices!!! haha.

@@Movieman2099 that would surely sound insane lol. Your definitely going to have to fork out some serious spare change, but your room is going to sing. If you have a big enough room you could build a baffle wall or frame up like mine to house some JTR speakers and go RTJ in-walls all around. That’d sound awesome as well I’m sure. However your JBL idea will be mind-blowing. Can’t go wrong either way.

@@Kickinitwithd18 were there other speaker brands you were considering? I have a short list with RBH, Perlisten and JTR/RTJ.

I always envy those who enjoy those huge screens. I have eye fatigue with everything above 100” from 10 feet /3m. Especially with movies containing a lot of closeups and action scenes like LotR

I love this! We have also mixed black and red theatre chairs. I think they look 🔥.

Yeah I agree, my Wife reminded me that I forgot to mention that the color choice for the chairs was also because of the movie carpet we selected. Whenever we get it installed it’ll make more sense as to why we picked two different colors. Definitely will reach out to Youthman for a future update HT tour.

I will stick with my Panasonic UB-9000 for watching movies...it is also 3D capable.

Hey youthman! Can you do a review on the new nakamichi dragon that was presented at CED? I heard it’s pretty insane

I’m trying not to get caught up in what type and brand of speakers to use.. use what you have or like.. let’s no forget youth man has three klipsch la scalas as is LCR, definitely unconventional.. I loved this room and the choices made 😊

Actually I sold the LaScalas two years ago - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJ_XlIitfJeDoJIsi=5qEjSXayygbuO1rD and upgraded to JTR Noesis 212HTR for LCR. The. 10 months ago, I upgraded my Klipsch surrounds and Atmos to JTR 110HT-SL kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWOVhaimfs5mY9Esi=qin2LRmLRkhJbqU0
