Loved seeing Kay Cee open up from opening to the passionate speech about meeting his wife's needs and being happy to find her love language. Those speakers are heavenly. The plug for the panels really brought a thought process change. I was going to recommend a subwoofer upgrade, and glad you decided to go for it. My heart frowned when you said you wanted to pull back, but then your choice to go with the martys surprised me quite a bit!! GOOD for you. I personally looked to buy some flat packs, but when looking they were out of wood a few months ago. The subs make or break any sound solution.

Beautiful Room with Great Gear! I do have a couple of comments though. 1). I started off with those Klipsch SPL subs and have since moved on to different things and then ultimately landing on DIY. You are in for a treat. A whole different level. 2). There is no real need for a miniDSP in this setup. Dirac Bass Control should outdo the miniDSP easily, and as long as you have the available channels then there’s no reason to not connect each sub to its own output and let DLBC do its thing. Now, Dirac can take some learning and a lot of trial an error. But once you figure out the mic positions that work well in your room then you will end up with a calibration that will outdo anything you can do with miniDSP unless you get into MSO and things like that which are very complicated.
@jadan20002 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments. I still have some time before the subs are finished so I'll give that some consideration. Thanks.

No it was the quality of the speakers. we definitely heard things from the triad LCRs that we didnt hear from the previous klipsch speakers. there was way more definition in the speakers, rightfully so. there isnt really any comparison.
@12P14D22C2 жыл бұрын
A good 5.1 is way better then a worse 7.1 i am a strong believer in having high quality speakers all around. If a speaker does "just some effects" i dont need that speaker. I want a speaker that widens the soundstage and enriches my expierience not being a Thing on the side. So i understand completly what they are talking about. But besides that. Klipsh has horn speakers for the most time atleast if not always as tweeters. The dispersion characteristics are very narrow which makes them a difficult option for people that want multiple Seats to Sound good. Not all horns have this Problem with this severity but klipsch really isnt a home Theatre speaker for pretty much their entire product line imo.

Thank you Michael for this, very nice to see how a husband and wife can work together to conclude their project in one amazing result! HOWEVER, I was disappointed to see those DB levels. NEVER use the 'C' weighting. The 'A' weighting is ment to represent the curve response of human hearing. The numbers shown there will be much lower. If you were to have levels like that in A weighting, they would be VERY much louder!
@Youthman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks but I wasn’t the one measuring. I use C weighting when measuring subs.
@garysmith84552 жыл бұрын
@@Youthman Ok Michael, just keep in mind, measuring subs with C weighting is NOT what our ears are hearing. C weighting is simply measuring the output of the speaker which enhances the bass response. I always use A, as it is what we as listeners are really hearing at our ears. I measured a crescendo in a Telarc orchestral recording with my former Klispchorns. Seating was 14' from the speakers and at A weighting easily hit 108 DB. Needless to say, it was over the top LOUD, yet so clean. You could use the A weighting scale with a favorite movie scene, and see what the A weighting level sounds like at 108 DB, then switch to C and watch the meter jump WAY up. Love to get your input on it. Thanks for the reply.

@@Youthman Hi Michael I guess that was a bit harsh on my part lol. Sorry 'bout that. Yes, agreed that C is used for measurements/setup and does respond to lower frequencies. HOWEVER, I am more interested in and once the system is set up, to see what is actually hitting my ears, and that would be the A weighting scale for sure. That is all, no argument here. (O:

Beautiful system. I chuckled when the seats reclined and it sounded like farting noises. :)
