@@naldebol Because it is still the killing of a mentally weaker being from whom certain persons have been deprived of all rights. How can a person claim that she loves the lifeless body of an animal? She needs to understand that what she thinks, she loves, is irrelevant. This is the Great Fall we are all involved in. Man must understand that as long as it does not break this bad habit, there is a greater being who is forced to take human life time and time again. This great being, who can no longer endure more suffering, is about to free itself from us. Therefore, there is no cohesive force on earth anymore as everything is in dissolution. Because it was the will of this being that sustained everything. We have all had our time on Earth, and we need to wake up now. If not us - then who? If not now, when? Time is running out fast now. Take a look at this: The Coming Race audiobook - part 1 especially from 1.13

@Dawson DavisHere's the AUTHENTIC definition of vegan, as put forth by the founding members of the Vegan Society UK (who coined the term in the late 1940's) -- "Veganism is a way of living which excludes all forms of exploitation of and cruelty to the animal kingdom, and includes a reverence for life. It applies to the practice of living on the products of the plant kingdom to the exclusion of flesh, fish, fowl, eggs, honey, animal milk and its derivatives, and encourages the use of alternatives for all commodities derived wholly or in part from animals."

Having a meat eater say this is powerful as it doesn't alienate other meat eaters and demonstrates how much effort and restraint it takes to not eat meat when it tastes yummy. Mikhaila Peterson is also looking on, in this debate I notice: on the right hand side. Interesting how she reconciles her Lion Diet practice exactly internally with what she hears here, and elsewhere -- but needless to say, she spoke in opposition to ending of meat, based on her health experience. I doubt her or her father ever got the care she needed (e.g. from the likes of Dr Ornish, Dr McDougall, Dr Goldhaimer of True North, etc.) when they were unwell, and she felt she had to go to that extreme. What a tragic outcome that was, for others and many animals, and perhaps for her and her father in future as well.

I belive the vast majority of vegans in my country were meat eaters that loved meat. I live in a rural country proud of it´s meat industry so it is easy to understand why. But beyond taste there is a point in life when you know you have a choice: to walk your ancestor´s footsteps without thinking or to create your own path and taste is the least concern. When I started 25 years ago there was no vegetarian industry in my country, just a couple of places where to eat very tastless food. Luckily my country produces and exports vegetables so we have a grocery every 2 blocks and after learning as much as possible i m still alive and well without ever returning to taste any form of meat, dairy or eggs. Today is so easy to become vegan it´s almost laughtable the excuses people have but the strongest and lasts is TASTE. The vegan industry is creating the taste and removing the last bastion of conservationism for the old generations and I am glad to live in this world today :)

The world is changing very slowly to a more green, ethical, plant-based diet. Its so small that those who are not focused on the changed wont notice it, but us who are ethical vegans, do notice it. Our DNA and cells were designed to KNOW what is good for it, that is why a Vegan Plant Based Diet is the ultimate diet and lifestyle a wise human should choose to live a healthy and statin free diet. Maybe that is not good news to the Pharmaceutical industry as they thrive on sick people, but that is how it is - people are waking up and getting to know the truth. Our DNA and cells reject the flesh of animals and their by-products, it also rejects processed "foods" The result of that rejection is back-lash on our bodies: Cancer, diabetes, MS, Lupus, Heart Disease, Cholesterol, etc. Humans are selfish and self-destructive. They love to live on what is pleasurable not what is healthy and healing. That is why I say - only the truly wise will make the change. The others will pay thousands of pounds/dollars on statins, invasive operations, chemo-therapy, radiation.

She’s right. I was her when I was a vegetarian. Some people “get” veganism overnight. Other people will take longer to align their actions with their morals. I was one such person so that makes sense to me. I’m here now though, vegan forevermore.

@Siara E. It's very simple. Just as there are countless fake vegans, who really still eat meat, who then come out saying they had to quit veganism due to extensive lies they and the meat industry made up, now there are fake "omnivore" people who are really vegan to counter that and expose all the hypocrisy of the meat eater people. Plus, such a person can get into places where vegans cannot, like a spy.

I don't find this inspiring at all, she's giving this speech as part of an acadmic and/or competitive excercise. There are many actual vegans saying the same thing (and more) as convincingly (and better) who actually believe it and put their money where their mouth is - let's celebrate them.

We need more advocates that are non vegan. I know this is counterintuitive. But we need an olive branch in some way. When we get majority it won't be a majority of vegans. We need a majority of agreement on principles we can vote on. Culture in the end agrees on morals do to cultural bias. People don't think through why something is moral. They just appeal to the structure of how societies morals work. People's disposition will change as our laws and perception towards animals change. I know there is a whole hypocritical point here. But there is also a whole gradient of different kinds of people in different points of their lives who need particular kinds of people to communicate these problems to them. Some people won't here these points from a vegan. Some people who care are recovering from trauma and identity crisis. Making any changes at all for these people can be difficult. They are vulnerable to new ideas and can be guarded. This comment may be pointless. But different kinds of animal welfare advocacy keeps going through my head even though I'm not certain what that means. As veganims grows we are going to continue to get cringy new young people who will say things that aren't good for our interests. And considering it's a moral position we will probably attract more narcissistic people. We need a wider net that will put pressure on some regulations so we can push even harder on the market
@ninjaturtletyke3328

@Anon Anon right. That's why I pointed out the hypocrisy. But the animals are the end goal. Can't we hold the position that what these people are doing is immoral without bombarding them with hypocrisy. Human slavery had the utility that people were willing to go to war to stop it. Animals don't have their luxury. They are the most vulnerable victims we've tried to help up to this point. If some level of advocacy helps them. Then maybe we need to find some kind of olive branch for their sake

Despite her hypocrisy, she's doing animals a service. But why not walk the talk? Why talk so passionately against a crime that she herself commit? How can she be convincing to others if she does not convert? It's equivalent to an alcoholic preaching to alcoholics to stop drinking. I had to put English subtitles on to be abe to understand her fast and muddled speach.

How could you ever decide what is moral and not.What vegans don't seem to get is that morality and ethics is a topic related to philosophy.If morality is subjective one can not prove or disprove their point.If it is objective than God guides mankind that all animals,plants are ok for human beings since man is in the center of this creation.

The untrue assumption smuggled in here is that animals aren't killed, maimed, and mutilated when cultivating agriculture. Animals are poisoned, trapped, shot, crushed, hacked into tiny bits, etc. to bring you that field of nutrient deficient soy, corn, wheat, or whatever vegetation you want to put on your plate. Once it is harvested the animals that have grown dependent on it may starve. The toxic fertilizer and pesticide run off also enters the water table and the surrounding environment to cause further death and damage such as oceanic dead zones. The vegan's hands are covered in blood also whether they eat flesh or not.
