A few quick questions on this new Pro version specifically if you don't mind! 1) Can I use the focus wheel of the Insta 360 Pro in the Black Magic camera app/or the native iPhone camera app? Or will the focus wheel only work with the Insta 360 app? 2) Are the video resolution recording modes of 4k60fps for timelapses, timeshifts and dolly zoom only possible with the Insta 360 app? Or would these higher video resolution modes work with the native iPhone/Black Magic camera app? 3) If you had an iPhone 15 pro max, and had to choose between the Hohem iSteady v3 vs this Insta360 flow pro, which would you choose? The iSteady v3 has a unique remote and more tilt degrees, but seems like its video resolution modes max out at 4k30 for timelapse and max slow motion seems much less than the insta360 pro. The Insta 360 pro has dockkit integration, but lesser tilt degrees (not sure exactly how much tilt vs 30 degrees both ways for the iSteady v3) 4) Have you heard anything about Insta 360 flow being able to use the Apple Watch as a way to remotely monitor and record the Insta360 flow pro gimbal with dockkit integration? If thats possible that would equalize out the difference with the iSteady v3 which has a built in remote. Thank you so much!

1. Focus wheel works inside their app. 2. Recording modes are independant on each app, gimbal has nothing to do there. 3. V3 or Flow Pro, it just depends on your general needs to be honest. 4. The Apple watch can show a live view of the iPhone, but it lags and the joystick also lags. For the live view I like the Apple Watch/iPhone combo. For fluidness I prefer the remote on the V3

I got this as a birthday gift 4 weeks ago. Took it to Florida on vacation. This gimbal is crazy. It spins and turns sideways at will. I missed content because I had to reset it, or at times, attempt to reset it. This is in Native camera, I didn’t try it in the app. The reason it was bought for me was so I didn’t have to use the app. It can’t be returned because it’s past the 30 day window. $150 sitting in a drawer!

Hi. I’m sorry that you’ve had a bad time with the gimbal. Please don’t take this the wrong way (I don’t know your experience level with gimbals). Your gimbal could be defective and you can contact insta360 directly as the gimbal should have a 1 year warranty, but most of the time, if the gimbal is not damaged, it’s user error. There are maximum angles, balance issues, wrong placement of the phone, etc. I’ve seen many cases as people have shown me their “faulty” gimbals and when I sell them I see lots of misconceptions and mistakes here and there.

I wanted to try the magnet. Its tough to place the clip on exactly center of phone with buttons on the side, and extremely hard to line it up with the gimbal if you are rushing. My issue is a $19 magnet comes with $18 shipping. I’m not willing to be robbed that way at this point. Thank you for your advice. Not at all offended. I realize when I post a response that I will receive feedback!

@ElaineP. Completely agree, I didn’t get the magnetic holder either. I see your point. Yeah the clamp can get in the way and it’s not very convenient but yeah the phone should be in the middle of that clamp otherwise the user will face issues

Some of them, where I am walking, the video appears to be bouncing. I noticed that when I was filming, but figured the stabilizer feature would fix that. I can’t find anything in literature. Is this user error? Thank you.

Not sure about recording directly to the ssd. About the WB yeah you can select it on the manual settings

Thanks! That’s right, changing modes with this gimbal has been a hit or miss. Try giving the gimbal to someone else and ask them to change the mode when you are filming something lol. 🤣

Yes the Flow Pro still has a limited tilt axis range. But that's not a problem. Hold it out sideways and then when you raise and lower it, the movement is accommodated by the rotate axis instead. No problem.

Otto, I'm a Newb to the the MagSafe feature, having just ordered a iPhone 13 mini. I see that Insta360 has a magnetic phone mount offered on their site ($9.99 + $18 shipping!), but not available on Amazon, or elsewhere for less. Does it matter for MagSafe adapters if the 3rd party ones that say they are compatible withthid model are used? How about MagSafe phone cases? Thanks for a great review!

It’s not a problem. It’s more of an inconvenience because it feels loose and sometimes this can lead to excessive movement of the gimbal. This is more evident when you pull out the extension rod

Hi, How is the footage quality for Android as it wont allow to use the native app. I have a s23 ultra and tried with DjJ Se gimbal but it was worse. I am checking this insta 360 flow pro now

You can use the native camera app, the tracking won't work but if you don't need it just skip that.

@ajp000000 the Flow Pro is a very good choice. Other gimbals I’d consider are the OM6 and also the Hohem iSteady V3. I’ll be releasing a video comparing all 3

Sorry...as much as I luv my Insta360 X3, just as the Flow was a huge "fail", so is the Flow PRO. All of the problems that existed with the original model appear to be here with the PRO...ESPECIALLY the lack of compatibility with other apps, as well as the lack of Android compatibility. People who refused to buy the original model because of its numerous flaws are even less likely to purchase the PRO model. What is it going to take for Insta360 to recognize the fact that Android has in excess of a 70% market share, compared to iOS's much lower 28.5% market share. The number of Android phones in use is close to 3x the number of iPhones (these figures are based on the latest published statistics). Until Insta360 adds Android compatibility to their gimbals, and fixes at least a majority of the other problems, they are 'blocking' themselves from a LOT of sales.

mmm not sure what you mean with "lack of Android compatibility". If it is for example what I mentioned in this video, I think it's fair to note that every single company has this problem and they are not even related to them, it's Android phone manufacturers that don't want or can't give full access to their cameras to third party apps. Samsung has acknowledged this publicly already. I hate it, but it's just facts

There are quite a few 3rd-party camera apps...and, as far as I'm aware, all of them are even compatible with Samsung phones (I know, as I'm typing this comment on a Samsung phone, and I have used 3rd-party camera apps). However, it's not even 3rd-party apps I was referring to. For the greatest part, I was referring to problems directly related to the Flow (and Flow PRO, some of which you cover in this video, and the rest of who you covered in the original Flow video. It's these problems which made the Hohem iSteady M6 the better choice...which, in head-to-head comparisons, appears to have been the decision most others concluded. Don't get me wrong...I don't dislike Insta360. I have the X3, and I've been planning to get a Go 3S (or 4, if that's released by the time I purchase).

The access to third party apps is limited, for example not being able to shoot at 60fps, even filmic pro has been open about it, and some of those apps who "can" use 60fps, they are not doing it directly from the camera but they are using other methods to "bypass" that restriction. I've seen it with other gimbal apps where they show as there is 60fps but it's done inside their app and the results are not good. :)

Iphone have a generational specs that are easy for dev to work into. Androids however, vary from brand to brand, then multiply the specs differences on model numbers. Market share does not count here. I am an Android user myself and acknowledged this lack of supports.

EVERY single gimbal in the market will suffer from that. I get it. Not everyone understands that but gimbals only have 3 axis. A 4th one is needed to compensate for that up and down movement

The only way to mitigate is by smooth walking, or ninja walk as some call it, but funny when people apply stabilization viewers are not happy. I show it as it is and others can’t be happy.

I’m trying to decide if getting a gimbal is worth it, or it’s redundant with the phone’s image stabilization features. From this I see that even with both it’s not as smooth as I would have hoped. @@mewintle I praised it for what it is and what it does, keeping in mind that it’s a 3 axis gimbal. iPhones stabilization are very good and they compliment each other, but having a gimbal makes a difference, of course depending on what you are looking to achieve. For everyday random videos nobody needs a gimbal, if you want smoother looking, horizon straight or more cinematic looking videos then a gimbal does help a lot.
