Wow, this does look really practical. Love the stabilization, native audio isn't bad (really highlights how much work you've put into getting good audio on rides for the channel), and the grab-n-go handheld functionality is great. I bet you could bring a couple of battery cases, and they look really easy to slip into a jersey pocket.

The insta 360 One X 2 & Insta 360 GO 2 have changed the way I shoot my cycling tours. I still have a gopro, but it is collecting dust. The Insta360 One X2 shoots in 360 degrees so i don’t have to worry about framing at all. Just mount it on your bike and ride. You have infinite editing choices later. And when i really want to travel light, there is no better camera than the Insta360 GO2. Just amazing. 👍🏼

The One X2 is my favorite camera because of that flexibility, but this Go 2 is also really unique and surprisingly flexible with the angle range of the shot.

I took your advice and bought one. I have been using it for about 10 days nows. I really like the compact size and the video quality. Battery life is very short though. You really need to carry the remote with you so you can charge on the go. I am having trouble with the on/off button on the front of the camera. Without the remote control, you have to remember the special commands. Shooting Modes Camera The following are the default functions for GO 2's Action Button. You can customize the Action Button's basic functions in the Insta360 App. When GO 2 is off (QuickCapture): Single press: GO 2 vibrates once, then starts recording a 15-minute Video (1440p, 30fps, 16:9). After shooting, GO 2 long vibrates and turns off. Tap the Action Button once to stop shooting at any time. Double press: GO 2 vibrates twice, then takes a photo. After shooting, GO 2 long vibrates and turns off. When GO 2 is in standby mode: Single press: GO 2 vibrates once, then starts recording a 10-minute Pro Video (1440p, 30fps, 16:9). After shooting, GO 2 enters standby mode. Tap the Action Button once to manually stop shooting at any time. Double press: GO 2 vibrates twice, then starts a 30-minute TimeShift video (1440p, 30fps, 16:9, 3× speed). After shooting, GO 2 enters standby mode. Tap the button once to stop shooting at any time. Still haven't got them down yet. I missed at least 3 or 4 opportunities to film my rides. Thought I had pushed "Video" but it ended up just being power on.

Thanks for the tip about the special commands! That is very interesting to know. I always just use the remote to make sure it's filming in the correct mode, but I did accidently stop a video once by pushing the button on the camera when switching it between mounts while riding. Once you get used to using it though, it's really quick and smooth, but yeah the limited battery is unfortunate. I try to aim for no more than 10 minutes per shot, and then let it charge in between shots in the case.

After seeing the different angles, I personally prefer the mount with the selfie stick as it shows the bike and you riding it along with a cinematic style 360° view.

i like that it is so versatile in use, but downside is the limited battery. If i go on a tour for 1-2 hours and plan to capture the full ride this is the wrong product. And you can't charge it without the bulky case, which also has an egg shape making it difficult to mount on flat surfaces/handlebar. This camera is great for B-Roll material, as you demonstrated holding it free hand for a couple minutes. It could have been a perfect if they had added a USB-C port directly onto the small camera body, so you could charge it while recording (using a large power-bank) and combine that with the flexible magnetic mounting and strap options. Nothing more, nothing less. No additonal charging dock required.. I hope Go3 will be better.

Yeah, it's definitely more of a b-roll or short stealth camera. The case actually has a camera mount, so you could put it on a handlebar mount easily for storage or even for filming while riding with the extra battery. Definitely lots of potential for some nice upgrades in V3 though.

KZbin's blocky compression algorithm really doesn't showcase how good the IQ is. Dynamic range is pretty impressive without defaulting to some faux-HDR processing. Color science is pretty good too, reds aren't overblown. Thanks for uploading.

I'm sure due to the small sensor, the low light images aren't as nice as the larger Insta 360 and most colors are over saturated in low light areas. In full sunlight, it performs well. Really like the 360 views from both cameras.

Exactly, the normal action camera low light weakness areas are even more visible since the camera is so small.

Before I hit play, I'm wondering if you'll answer these questions in the video (just my own personal curiosities, not requisites by any means). 1 Is there a time limit on the length of a clip? 2 Is there a way to see what's being recorded while the camera is filming? 3 What's the battery life? 4 How amazing is it to live in Nagoya?

1) I've filmed 10 minute clips no problem. 2) I believe you can sync it to your phone, but I almost never use a preview screen with action cameras. This one especially has a wide angle range you can even adjust later in the app. 3) Much shorter with just the tiny camera, plenty long when in the case. I film a 10 minute clip then charge it in the case for a few minutes before I start my next clip and that works for me for filming continuous videos. 4) Nagoya is amazing, we really like living in Nagakute though (which is separate from Nagoya technically). Thanks!, That would've been a good opportunity to test the waterproofness.

Hi Cruise, so question about the camera you are using. How long can you ride on one charge ? Longtime Michigander here, I envy your situation in Japan. Keep up the good work!

The camera has space for about 30 minutes of video. The battery case covers all of this time. When the little camera is out of the case, it can film for about 10 minutes continuously, then needs a little break (also a good idea to put it in the case during this time to recharge). So you can do 3 x 10 minute videos with small recharge / cool down breaks in between filming or multiple small clips throughout the day.

Dang, I really like this camera but they need to improve on the recording time, I like filming my long rides (usually 25miles maybe not long for some) and this little gem won’t do that so I’ll wait for the upgrades, as always great review…recap. When in the case you can easily cover the about 30 minutes of storage space. Outside the case it can cover a 10 minute continuous clip no problem, but you'll need to charge it in the case for a few minutes after if you want to do another long clip right away.

You have to keep ur cycling time under an hour since you cant change the battery! I use a DJI action for my rides and cans switch batteries a few times.

Nice review! Looks like more a kind of toy/new gadget than a real action camera. 10 min vid it's like nothing at all as well the batt stamina. Video quality is not so good for today standard. How du you transfer the video? Looks like it doesn't have a USB C plug, do you need a special cable? Can you use underwater? For a near toy it's a great device but it's not an action camera.

Yes, 5-10 minute clips are no problem. And yes, I will still be using the chest mount for filming longer rides, but also using the handlebar mount with the One X2 360 camera every once in a while.

The non magnetized mounts will be most secure. I'm not sure if they come with all packages. But I've only used the magnets so far now and 0 problems.
