Insta360 is really good about firmware updates, so I'm sure they will get it sorted out but needed to mention it as that's why I found in my testing.

Thanks for the video well done, I've just brought the x4 which for me is a significant upgrade from the x2, I held off buying the x3 which I think was the right choice for me, haven't really had a chance to use the x4 much yet for my motorcycle videos but looking forward to it. I like that you were able to show the comparison of all three cameras which shows that the older x2 will still have it's place for filming my adventures. Thanks again all the best

I sometimes wonder if I should be a channel member and you remind me with videos like this that, yes. I should. We agree most of the time as we do here. But you do the comparison that I don’t have the patience to do. I haven’t seen any heating issues but I’m usually moving and less color shift as well. The sound quality is the real major point over the X3. I’m still buying the coolaid or coffee in this case. 😂

Haha 😆 Maybe it's just mine that has this color shifting from a warm color to cold blue at times. Yes when the X4 is moving with wind hitting it, it does not overheat, but stationary is another story, but then again, it's a lot of processing power required for 8K and that alone generates heat.

@@WORTHITORNOT action cameras are usually moving aren’t they by definition? 😉 8k isn’t necessary and hardly used but it does make the edited video look better at the finished 4K. I like the 360 format simply because you have multiple views from the one camera. As almost always we agreed that to bump to the 4 is not required. Keep up these detailed reviews- I’ll let you know about the Go 3s. It arrived today

Great review and comparison of the X4 and two most recent models that came before. I just recently upgraded from the X2, and I can see a big difference in the quality of the video and pictures. And I love that large and bright screen to change settings on the fly. The only downside in the increase in size, and price. I have no interest in shooting 360 video in low light, so that's not a consideration for me. Thanks for sharing, and I looking forward to more X4 content on your channel.

To me the X3 still looks great, I like the sound of your car. The low light was bad on both cameras. Are you going to review the Go3s?

Thanks, the SRT-8 Challenger is my "hotrod" to keep the adrenaline flowing 😎 Yeah these 360 cameras are not meant for low light but everyone wants to see a low light test with all these cameras hence why I do them. I would love to review the Go 3S, hopefully Insta360 sends me one to test out.

Really interested in getting the X4 for Car shots. Do you have a recommendation of a mounting option for it that will handle highway speeds without worrying about it falling off?

In this clip I was using the SNAP mount with the X4 just attached to the 1/4-20 as I didn't feel comfortable with it also holding the invisible selfie stick. I'm looking at a few 3 suction cup designs and will do a video when I find one that I feel comfortable recommending.

X4 low light video was more stable ,whereas, the X3 was wobbling about. I'm also surprised that the noise wasn't as noticeable on either. Did you have either camera set to an ISO range maxed out at 400 or 800? I tried doing a low light test with the X3 in LOG and Pocket 3 in D-Log M both in 4k30...and the X3 video was super noisy.

For my old eyes, the only really noticable improvements are better dynamic range and stabilization. Better sound quality as well. But if you already have an X3, maybe there's no need to upgrade?

Yes the 8K is better over the 5.7K for sure, a lot more detail and allows better cropping without loss of image quality
