You’re one of the few art tips KZbinrs i can watch. I have ADHD so i have a really hard time concentrating on stuff i dont find fun, interesting or stuff that simply takes to long to get to the point because i need mental stimuli to be able to learn something and/or concentrate. Most other art KZbinrs i’ve watched just dont cut it for me, they make intros that are 2-5 minutes long and could be summarised in less than 40 seconds and talk about stuff that doesn’t really matter and it often makes the video so much longer than it needs to be and stuff like that makes me click off really quickly. Instead of being boring, making videos that don’t need to be more than 8 - 10 minutes long 30+ minutes you get right to the topic and entertain during the entire video. The best teacher is someone you can tell enjoys what they teaching and one who enjoys teaching it, when someone is talking/explaining something they love their enthusiasm rubs off. Your way of teaching is great because it not only shows you very good methods to both improve and speed up the art process but it does it in a way were even someone who doesn’t enjoy drawing and doesn’t want to draw would be able to enjoy watching your videos purely because they’re fun. (You kinda remind me of bobby duke arts, if you don’t know who he is check him out i think you’d really like his content. I dont do the type of art he does but his videos are still fun to watch for me, even if i’m not planning to learn it.) I love how ethan always subverts the extreme perspective the video begins with. like how instead of “Never draw hands like Sinix” it’s really “For most artists following Sinix’s advice is overkill, however their perspective is valuable in the case of artists who are interested in getting extremely skilled and well versed in drawing hands”

And more helpful. He doesn’t hold hands but he is actually helping. So many youtubers basically boil it down to “just practice” but never actually explain WHAT or HOW. This is a sad and shallow way to draw. Hands and feet are SO EXPRESSIVE. They are so unique. I guess you've never actually referenced hands in real life, but everyone's are different. Distinctly different. If you want to cut them out of your drawings just because they're hard, the only person you're hurting is yourself. The same goes for feet. I draw a lot of DBZ art, and I just feel like those little Saiyan monkeys need very expressive feet, since they're... monkeys... Feet and hands are SO FUN once you learn how to draw them. They're always something I look forward to drawing. Maybe feet and hands aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I think you should give them an honest shot before disregarding them completely. edit: also yeah foot art pays the bills 😷

Just wanna say I done my first assessment of year 11 about you and one of the biggest compliments I got regarding the self portrait of myself I did influenced BY hour art was how well I drew the hands, which I actually only learnt how to do due to this video years ago and still use the same techniques I learnt using this video. Very full circle for me.

Thank you so much! I started watching his video for 1 minute and was completely confused then I saw yours so I gave it a shot. This makes so much sense! I’ve been struggling with hands for a very long time. I’m going to use this “tutorial” a lot just to remind myself… “Simply = Better Art” and “Simple Shapes (like triangles) are in everything!” Long story short: thank you so much! This was very useful and easy to understand!

I would come back to Sinix' video later. Ethan is just saying that you can simplify things and that Sinix' approach is complicated for students, which is true, but I still learn a lot from hin because now I have understood some things a bit better so maybe come back to him later because he can teach a lot too.

I wouldn't say never draw hands like Sinix ever. Sinix's approach and style is leaning toward realism. That's what I noticed when I browsed his art and tutorials. Even when he draws anime, it has a realistic feel to it. So I think it's good for artists specializing on realism and painting. I get it. You don't have to draw like Sinix if you're aiming for a stylized approach.
@rebeccamartinez58863 жыл бұрын
That's what he basically says at 2:58. I'd say this video is specifically for beginners who are still bad at drawing hands; I'm sure a lot of beginners would feel overwhelmed if they tried learning from Sinix's hands video, because his hands are so detailed and complex looking and someone who has little drawing experience wouldn't be able to reach that level yet. Instead of getting frustrated at being incapable of drawing hands like Sinix, Ethan is breaking it down for those who haven't learned to analyze how the structure of a hand works. It's not that Sinix's hands are bad at all - he's simply too good for the majority of amateurs, and Ethan is offering a simpler approach for them to understand.
@TenjinZekken Жыл бұрын
Yep. Sinixs video is more of a go between learning full on anatomy, amd learning the reductions for drawing. They can be useful for helping you study other references, and help you connect a bunch of concepts but aren't there to say, teach you the easy way.

He also does full structure, into reductions, into paintings, amd a short animation. His videos aren't here's out to skip learning about the hand, it's here the parts of the hand you should understand so u know what's going on.

Ethan teaching is really simplified and its a big help for some new artist about of getting things done *effectively and efficient* I find Sinix tutorial is really complicated though it can work but again it's not that important when it comes to illustration or concept art since adaption on 3D will ignore most of the part for example on the fingers since most concept is on relax pose, A-pose or T-pose. agree with Ethan all the way through though I wouldn't recommend the channel to some minors and I'm watching your teaching in behalf of my daughter and everyday I tried to share your teaching to my daughter :) she improves a lot. thanks Ethan soon I will introduce your channel to her. Kudos. she's 8 years old.

If I were the one who'll get criticism from him I would literally thank him a lot and take it as advice because in this way I'll learn what's wrong with my art so I could fix it and do better.... Some people are just too naive to understand his point of view, I'm 16 and I clearly understand his point, from what I see is he's giving us good advice and help our "baby brain" to improve faster and do better.
