Be careful with that pipe wrap, my guess is that is asbestos and looks really old. Somebody else that knows better could chime in. I know you're wearing a respirator but I'd be even more careful than that to be honest.

yea I think you're right about the asbestos, it's on my todo list to test it. This respirator is a P100 and can filter out asbestos.

@@BadHomeowner yes, the problem is old friable asbestos like that when disturbed will get onto your clothes, fall through the wall, etc. that's why you want to be extra careful around it, wet it if you're disposing of it etc.
