As always, great vlogs. Have you done any previous vlogs or aware of the VCM issues plaguing the Honda Odysseys and other Honda’s with the IV-TEC VCM engines? If not, can you look into and share your perspective? Do you have a VCM muzzler on your Odyssey? Have you experienced unusual oil consumption, spark plug fouling and car shakes around 50mph which can lead to premature engine mounts and possibly engine failure?

Hey great video. Just one question. When you open a door or the hood, does the remote tell you that a door is open?
@dial2fast8 жыл бұрын
When opening door or hood, it does not tell you, but if you arm with door open, it will tell you. If you arm the alarm, and someone open the door or hood, it will trigger the alarm and let you know. Or if you open the hood while remote start running, it will shut engine.

Did you make connection on Tachometer wires from "Remote Starter to Bypass Module"? I didn't see it on both video 2 and 3 or maybe I missed it, sorry.
@dial2fast3 жыл бұрын
With this vehicle the data mode provided the tach information the remote starter needed. If you install yours and find the starting is problematic (with data mode), then you will need to run a wire to the spark plug for tach voltage reading.

I'm installing the same setup on a very similar vehicle, '08 Accord, and your video has been extremely helpful so thank you. I noticed on your wiring diagram of the remote start to the bi-pass module you had an "NA" next to the e-brake status (-)output (4:44) even though the diagram appears to be calling for that connection. Was there any particular reason you didn't need to hook up that connection? Is it b/c you don't need it hooked up b/c you won't ever turn ON "turbo timer mode"?

hi there. you did a very good job at explaining everything. i am going to install a prostart remote car starter and alarm in my 2002 Acura EL and i am using xpresskit DBall2. I have wiring information and all but i wanted to know that if i use D2D mode do i still connect negative door and alarm output wires from my remote starters brain to factory harness or leave them as they are all doted in DBall2 diagram sheet. And after installations do i still have functionality of my oem alarm and remote? thank you.
@dial2fast9 жыл бұрын
+deep aman The negative door trigger should be provided in data mode and you should not need to hard wire it to your alarm brain. The factory alarm is still functional.
@deepamu19189 жыл бұрын
+dial2fast so basically i am connecting ignition harness, parking light, brake switch, tach, hoodpin, my siren and bypass module. What about dome light and trunk pin and trunk release. thank you.
@dial2fast9 жыл бұрын
+deep aman Dome light is your negative door trigger. Trunk should be provided by the data mode bypass module. Trunk release (if it has power trunk) may or may not be from the data mode, so you might need to install a relay for that to control. I am not familiar with the DBALL, but I know iDatalink bypass modules install guide will tell you what all the options it can provide to control.
@deepamu19189 жыл бұрын
+dial2fast in my Dball2 diagram trunk input and output is a dotted line and i do have power trunk(can open from my oem honda remote). Since my trunk is + output i need to put relay between my factory trunk harness wire and remote start brain i believe. thank you.
@dial2fast9 жыл бұрын
+deep aman That dotted trunk line in the diagram is most likely referring to trunk alarm trigger (like if you open the trunk, the alarm goes off) and not for remote pop open. So you will need to wire in your own relay to a channel output on your alarm to control it.

The MidnightNarwhal- What can I say ? Amazon.ca sucks. I found what I wanted on Amazon.com for $ 54. US which was $ 70. on Amazon.ca There is however a CDN company ( a distributor) for iDatalink products in Markham ON. You can either go to there shop and have them install a module and a remote or you can order from them online at their website. It's called Lockdown Security.com. I bought my bypass module from them online and they flashed it for me. It should arrive next week. The guy who I talked with was REALLY helpful and answered all my stupid questions. FYI- iDatalink will work in almost any car. If you go to their website they will ask for your car make, model and year and then spit out what products are compatible for your car. My car is a 2009 Dodge Caliber. I bought the iDatalink ALCA bypass module . You can also go to that CDN company I told you about and they will do they same thing. They will tell you what you need. My remote starter was bought last week from a guy in Milton ON who will install it all at a later date. For me his shop was much closer than Markham. I bought my remote starter from him. It's was the Audiovox Prestige APS901E remote starter. Good luck . if you have anymore questions,don't hesitate to ask.

Is there a remote starter or alarm system for the 2010 EX-L?
@dial2fast8 жыл бұрын
+MrRangerZr1 All alarm systems are designed to work with all production cars. That's why the alarms have so many wires you don't use because it's meant to accomodate many different types of cars. You just have to wire it properly to your car and program the necessary options. Same for the bypass module, it needs to be programmed for your year/make/model.
@MrRangerZr18 жыл бұрын
+dial2fast Will the one you installed work for the sliding doors and power tailgate?
@dial2fast8 жыл бұрын
+MrRangerZr1 Any remote opening features require an aux channel on the alarm system. Yes this alarm has enough aux channel for such a setup. Keep in my, you will need to connect external relays properly for the integration to your car. Some car use positive trigger, some use negative trigger, some use reverse polarity. You will need to know what your car needs and how to wire it up. What I showed in my video is specific to my car, not for all cars.

I think you have done a soldering tutorial before but I would like to see more detail on how you were stripping of the insulation without cutting the wire and soldering it so effortlessly. I have no idea where you were keeping the soldering iron while you were not using it. If you can show us the tricks you were using to do this so efficiently would be highly appreciated.

Hey do you think a normal guy like me could learn to install remote starters ? If so what's the risk in doing this ?
@dial2fast7 жыл бұрын
If you have not done car installs before, I recommend, you start with car stereos, then do a bunch of regular car alarm installs, then get into remote start system. You need to know how to test all the wires, and the risk is damaging the factory wiring system rendering your car not operational and a huge repair cost.

Thank you dial2fast, it was the BEST how to video I have seen ! The camera work was fantastic! I never had any intention of doing the job myself but I was curious to see what was involved so I watched all 3 videos. I have bought but not had installed yet the Audiovox Prestige APS901E remote starter and Idatalink ALCA bypass module for my 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT.. Buy watching your video I have learned three things: 1) why for sure I would NEVER consider doing this. 2) why it costs so much to have it installed. 3) My next car is going to come with a remote starter. : ) My only question is, didn't you have to flash the module and if not, why not. If yes, why didn't you show that. It was my understanding that almost all modules have to be flashed. That would mean you would also have to buy some type of USB connector going from your module to your computer. That's another expense that people should be aware of, because it's not cheap. Thanks again for three great videos. ( today is DEC. 14/2017)
@dial2fast7 жыл бұрын
Your comment is totally correct. After someone watch the whole process, they can decide if this is something they want to take on. People need to know their limits and if you mess it up, it can cost you a lot of money to fix on the car's electrical. As for flashing the bypass module, you can either buy it pre flashed with the software that you need for your car, or if you are a dealer, you can flash the module to whatever firmware you need, and yes you do need the USB dongle which cost extra. I have the ability to flash my own firmware and I did not show it because it's not something everyone will have access to.
