I am not exactly 100% sure but I do know it has to possibly be with the cost of the precious metals inside. It might have more or less precious metals inside.

A person parting out his prius online. You can also try copart or someone online selling a complete crashed prius that they dont want. I seen people sell their cars with problems online. I remember waiting 6 months to find a catalytic converter for another car. If you are lucky you will get one. You have to be patience sometimes. Its not easy. But it is better than paying thousands of dollars for that catalytic converter.

The price for a catalytic converter goes up and down. I was able to get a used one for $900 used from a car that was being part out for parts.
