It does not grant your phone root access, what it does is it unlocks your bootloader if needed. And besides, if you are not rooted already and have not flashed a recovery... good luck.

Thanks Tim, that worked a treat. The PC installer stopped seeing my phone and I tried the suggestions that it offers you. In the end uninstalling Kies allowed me to install this properly. My phone is way faster now. I just need to learn my way around it.

My advice is for anyone who has this problem to just look up the ROM for CyanogenMod and then flash it using TWRP. If you don't have TWRP, there are tutorials online to do that. If there is no ROM for your device, this app probably wouldn't work for you anyways. If you don't know what any of what I'm saying means, I do not recommend using CyanogenMod.

CYANOGEN MOD IS GORGEOUS. !! Well worth the effort. Get the App first from Playstore onto the phone. then download the installer onto your PC. We had to Unzip and extract the files exclusive to the Galaxy Note, and plant them on the PC's desk-top for them to be found when running the whole process. Absolutely excellent. We Love Cyanogen Mod. Thanks guys.

Tim - A note on your comment about needing a way to "UnRoot" the device so folks can get back to where they need to be. The SuperSU (FREE) has three settings whereby you can do just that. There is one setting to "Cleanup for reinstallation from Google Play", another to "Cleanup to switch to another superuser app", and a third to "Cleanup for permanent unroot". I hope this is what you were looking for.

In some cases (in example samsung's models) need to install additionaly Samsung Kies from official Samsung website. After installed Samsung Kies, whole process of installation CyanogenMod went without any problems with my Galaxy S3. So great tutorial and thumb up from me. Furthermore this is actualy the easiest method to upgrade your device especially GS3, cause Samsung shutdown the upgrade to Android 4.4 in official way. I hope this post could help someone, to take the risk and change your OS. Definately worth it to do it. :)

20150307: I followed the instructions on my Samsung galaxy S3 GT-I9300. It installed CM11.0 (Android 4.4.1) in ~10 min. Slightly later it updated a couple of times to Android 4.4.4. Everything seems to work perfect including: calls, camera, SMS, WiFi, Cellular network et. Thank you!!!

i can say one thing, for the danish people, i could not install it on my s4, but then i changed it from danish to english and then i could. i now use CM11 on my s4, it is really the best. Follow the steps he shows, i did and it works.

Got my phone (Galaxy S4 Tmobile) bricked the first time around probably because I wasnt paying attention and left my anti-virus running. As a begginer I am, I learned the hard way that having your phone rooted -> installing ROM manager -> Flashing a custom recovery -> and backing up stock image should have been done first. It took me about two weeks of learning the language and about $40.00 to unbrick my device. Point is: there is no "easy" way to flash ROMs, as you still need to get yourself familiarized with the process. The reward is great though.

My Nexus 10 should be arriving in a few days, and I have just a few questions about this if you guys don't mind 1. Does it automatically install a Google app package? One that at least includes the Play Store? 2. If the answer to question 1 is no, is it easy to just back out to TWRP (Or whichever recovery it uses) and flash it on top of Cyanogenmod?
