Well! This is a new one. Have you tried to this with the old seal above the new one to avoid damaging the new one? I've used the old seal as a driver for years, but I have to find a way to whack on that. :)

You are the first t one that created a lip when rolling electrical tape, everyone just roll it straight. I think the lip is important not to damage that soft part of seal, at least thats what I think, I dont know I am not an expert. 😂

Does your seal have a spring ring around it. Shall I remove it to fit the sloped ring? This method drives the seal with solid hits but the seal still won't squeeze into the sloped ring

Those objecting based on theory may note that if the method didn't work, the forks would leak immediately. What happens is the tape conforms to the seal while spreading the load as it expands slightly over the seal lip. Any assertion is testable. If it works, it works.

but how do you put the bushing in? because i saw people using the driver tool to push the bushing with the washer and then push the seal

what did you use to drive the large bushing in right before the seal?

Hmm.. I never needed a driver for that bushing, just slide it in and it snaps in place.

And now check your fork seal spring, you are putting force directly at seal point where the seal spring is located. Never do this again. Use composite tube to do this next time.

No way. You can not do that, You are just making damaged on the lip of the oil seal. You have to push in out side of the seal ,not inside. I hope you are not making money fixing them.

I build up the tape to the same thickness of the seal, it's exactly the same as using a specialized seal driver. I've done it this way for years with no issues.
