A couple of hours ago I was waiting for a contractor to come and give me a quote. Just a basic cabinet replacement. He never showed up (I know they are too busy right now, but not even a phone call?). I then called a friend that is also very handy, and between this video and my friend, we can do it (we have the tools and the weekends). Next: measure the cabinets so I can order them, remove, install. Thanks for a great video!!

Every other video: "we're going to measure twice, then draw a line, then check that line with a level, then we can screw the cleat in. Now let's check that cleat for level, then we can set the cabinet on top of that, check level, one screw, check level again..." This guy: muscles cabinet up to ceiling with one hand, screws with the other, it's perfect. Checks with level just to gloat. No pencil required

This is one of the best basic cabinet install videos I have seen. No BS and good communication. The only downside is that it doesn't cover issues most people will probably have with uneven walls or floors. The solution for those issues are pretty simple. Shims. Find the best spot and put your first cabinet, then shim the rest to match. A little bit of construction adhesive will make sure the shims don't get moved later on, but this would be pretty unlikely after everything is screwed down..

Nice, did you pre drill the cabinets?

hey scott...yes to screw them together, no to screw them to the wall...non wood splitting screws helps with the mounting..thanks for commenting!

Hey how’d you get the new cabinets to line exactly with the dimensions of the ones you took out?
@homemend
@homemend 5 жыл бұрын
hey steve! great question...i purchased the same cabinet sizes that were in there but they had a 27" slide in stove and the customer wanted a standard 30" stove so in place of the 18 next to it, i used a 15 to make up the 3 we lost with the new stove..i hope this helps!

Do you have any videos from house built in 1940s?? I have mold under sink idk where to start
@homemend
@homemend 6 жыл бұрын
Hey .! I learned on houses pre1950s and it seems like everything is pretty much the same but with much heavier materials. Plaster can be replaced with drywall..etc.. after you pull the cabinets, if the area is able to be cleaned you can use a mold and mildew remover on it..if its real bad you may need to pull it out...heres a video for re building a wall, then you can put your cabinets in after everything is new..if you have any specific questions i'd be more than happy to help.. you can also send me pictures if needed. i hope this helps! and good luck! kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=JReSIljWrfs
