Lovely video. Think I’ll get one. We’ve had a EUFY video doorbell for about 2 years. I think pound for pound it’s the best piece of technology I’ve ever bought. The clarity day and night is superb. We can talk to people at our door remotely even from Italy! It’s just incredible!

I've got 3 of these cameras and they are awesome. I used to have ring floodlight cameras and converted over at the beginning of the year. They have worked flawlessly and are always fully charged from the solar panel. The only downside if it is one is that when using the 3 x zoom lens, the camera has to be mounted at at least 3m + off the ground otherwise it cant see very high at a distance. I also have a home base 3 for recording away from the camera (Without, if a thief stole your camera the footage would go with it). Within the Eufy family, only the Home base 3 or later work with these cameras so don't get drawn into one of the regular Home Hub 2 deals that come with other cameras. If you add these to your setup they wont integrate. There is also a 4g version that takes a sim card for remote areas with no wifi.

Now set up and works brilliantly. Documentation is non existent even the chat option can only tell you how to screw it to the wall. Figured most of it out by trial and error. Took two days of playing with it though. Sadly that’s the way with most technology products these days. But still a great security camera. My old Lidl ones were going all day long because of the sun shining through a hedge and producing shadows. This unit has yet to falsely trigger in 4 days.

Just installed “ eufy “ camera system this week and found the hardest part was obtaining the account necessary 🙄 not a bad product but my battery operated 2c cameras are a bit hit and miss with detection and recording activity. I was also a bit disappointed that that I can’t continuously record as with earlier camera systems and an account is necessary to use them which is not what I want. It appears that these days you can’t just purchase a product and use it, you must have an account which as with the camera systems regularly request access to this and that 😡 I’ll probably look into higher quality cameras on the same system in the future. To date I’d rate my system about 60% satisfactory but I probably purchased the more basic package so we’ll see. Excellent as always Stuart 👍👍

In your case this might be a solution, but for anyone thinking about getting a security camera, please go for Power over Ethernet and not Wi-Fi. This will give you reliable 24/7 monitoring, especially if you also include NVR to record long term. Whatever brand you go with, make sure there are no subscription requirements for storage, either built in SD card or mentioned NVR. Having said that, I am really doubtful that a solar-powered camera can work reliably in the UK, especially in northern locations in winter. I have a solar-powered weather station from Ecowitt which also has battery backup (2xAA). There are times when super capacitor in it doesn't get fully charged for several days in a row in winter, when the sun rarely shines without clouds.

I did a load of research and ended up going for a eufy system too and it does just work as you say. I haven’t got solar so just have to take the cameras down every few months to charge but you can buy a solar panel as a standalone attachment which I might do in the future. You can also buy additional cameras as and when you like and connect them too.

We have had 3 of these cameras in our back yard for over one year. Truly remarkable technology that continues to receive useful OTA updates. They survived Texas hail, torrential rains, very cold winter and heat that’ll fry an egg. Solar power panel charges on overcast days! One of the solar panels is not optimally positioned, yet never runs out of battery power. Internet connection and set up is easy and there are rare disconnects. Keeping an eye on our sneaky puppy, day or night, to stop it digging holes is our favorite bonus. Plus, there was no need for an electrician. Worth every penny!

Looks a great camera and I love the solar charging. Would love you to come back on this later in the winter when it's dark and very wet to comment whether it can sustain power in those darker months with such a small solar panel and also whether the constant rain causes any issues.
@nickdawson9270
@nickdawson9270 Ай бұрын
There's a lot of negativity in these comments which is hardly constructive! There is clearly a valid application for this product as Stuart demonstrates, and if the price matches up to the benefit to you personally, then anyone interested can buy it and try it out. The real issue is its durability through the winter. Maybe there will be a follow up in due course? Knowing the IP rating and the battery performance would be useful.

Love your videos usually but I'm not sure about these sponsored reviews. I guess you've been given guidelines on what to say/not say. KZbinrs usually say when they can say whatever they want. No mention of current price or WiFi range. Another massive one for outdoor cameras is water resistance. That usb connection on the back providing power doesn't look like it'll stand up to much. A water resistance test would be great for an actual review.

@@ianmarsden8568 You can take out a subscription if you want to store your stuff in the " Cloud " but it's unneccessary. The camera has 8Gb of internal storage and you can save footage over your local WIFI to your Laptop or Phone. You can also bulk delete clips ( I have my eufy cameras repurposed as wildlife cameras around the garden, lots of hedgehog / cat / fox activity ) If the internal memory gets full then it starts to rewrite over the oldest footage. Eufy have had privacy issues in the past. They were found to be uploading images to the internet unsecured. Caveat Emptor. Good advice for camera's: - Position at least 3m above the ground so they can't be easily accessed, but not so high you can't see peoples faces. - Wireless camera's can be jammed. Wired is always preferred where practical. - Don't rely on the SD card local storage on the camera. If it fails you lose all your footage. - Don't rely on internet only connections, if you're internet goes down, you get no recordings. - Local storage in your house is always preferred, make sure it's out of the way where no-one will see it. The most important things with security cameras is that you are in control, not the manufacturer.

I have both a Eufy doorbell cam and a solar cam in my back garden an i have installed a solar cam at my mother in laws. the WiFi connection isn't the best in all honesty. i would highly recommend a WiFi extender close to where the camera is fitted. my router is upstairs and until i got a WiFi extender for downstairs the connection was terrible. at the mother in laws, her connection isn't the best and her router is about 8 meters away from the camera, going through a few walls.. alerts and live view can be delayed, which kind of defeats the point. otherwise, i'm happy with my cameras and think they are worth the fairly low price.

Have owned a Eufy solar camera for two years. South facing but Manchester UK weather. It records all sorts including an attempt to try and scan my car keys, an attempted break in and numerous foxes at night. Downloading the files for the police was very easy. In that time I had to take the camera down once every January to manually charge it. Otherwise it happily keeps charging even without full sun. Mine has the spotlight but as there is a streetlight outside I found the picture quality was much better when not using it. When they tried to scan for my keys they were unsuccessful but then stole the car opposite. Even with faces covered, the clothing, trainers, height and build were clear as day. The police knew who it was which led to their arrest and vehicle recovery. I highly recommend these cameras. Incidentally I have two neighbours with Ring doorbells. Both keep forgetting to replace/recharge the batteries. We don’t have that issue.

I've had 3 of these for nearly a year and they are always virtually fully charged. They get OK sun. Unless you are sticking these in a very sheltered / dark area, they will work great. It would be interesting to see how such a tiny solar panel performs over winter when sunlight is in short supply.. I have a 300W solar panel on garage roof which charges 100Ah car battery. I used to power my cam from this setup which worked fine until December when the battery ran down and had to be manually charged once per week. I have since updated to power over ethernet. The camera only uses 2-4Watts (depending on IR illumination) but displays live video - so more energy than one that triggers on events like here.

40m away and you can still connect to WiFi? Please explain as I have one on the outside of my house which initially struggled to connect to my router (the previous cheaper camera I had, didn’t have a problem). I had to get a WiFi extender in the adjacent room just to give it that extra boost. If I can position mine away from the house, it will be a game changer. As always, great content.

All these wireless cameras and doorbells have awful wifi reception. The camera in this video is no different and you would deffo need a mesh system, extender etc for it to work, and the end signal needs to be strong and very close to the camera for reliable video.

Great idea with the solar etc. But picture quality seems awful and jerky. Used Eufy cams before, you get what you pay for(cheap and cheerful), tho their systems was compromised few years back and people could see other people’s cameras in their app. Ditched them right away and went with UniFi 👌

Just a heads up, wifi cameras can be easily disabled remotely with wifi jammers. Ethernet cameras that upload to remote storage via wired internet is what you want for optimal surveillance. Or that upload to a locked up computer in your house.

Remote storage requires an internet connection. Always better to store locally in your house, if the internet goes down you don't lose footage.
@SidBonkers51

With the Eufy system as the video is stored on a local hard drive there is no cloud storage subscription! And that is a big selling point for many people. Yes wifi jammers can disable the cameras but they are illegal and not carried by most opportunist toe rags, No system is 100% perfect but for a relatively inexpensive cost the Eufy systems are hard to beat right now.

@@elminster8149 To be clear, there was a law suit against Eufy's parent company regards to facial recognition video footage held on their cloud servers this security breach was patched well over a year ago and since most users do NOT subscribe to the cloud storage there is no chance of any breach anyway. That is exactly why I choose to use local rather than cloud storage.

There is no mention of WiFi signal because the distance from his house is substantially quite far I have a eufy camera fitted above the back door and I needed an extra router fitted in the kitchen just to get a signal. I will say I’ve had it about 8 months and it’s still at 96% full.

I have a log cabin at the bottom of a long garden, and I use a pair of Ubiquiti nano stations (less than £50 each) to act as a wireless bridge between house and cabin. They are external access points, easy enough to set up and I get enough bandwidth to work on computers in the cabin. Bonus is that the whole garden now has wifi access.

@@nialstewart8263 I have power run in armoured cable to the cabin -- I need it to run it as an office. The wireless bridge saves me from having to run a data cable. The distance is too far for ethernet, so I'd need a repeater or I'd need to run fibre. The wireless bridge was way cheaper and simpler than either of those options.
