I have a GA-Z97X-UD5H (rev 1.1) and I can't get XP installed at all! I only get a BSOD/STOP error instead of the 'would you like to install XP, repair, or exit installer?' when I trry to boot from XP disk. Are there only certain MBs of this one that allow XP installed?

Ok, i would be forever grateful if you could. I have downloaded like 100 drivers and none work haha. The thing is I dont really know what im looking for in terms of a driver. Like is it for the mb or the hd or for windows?? Im kind of just shooting in the dark over here.

downloadcenter.intel.com/product/55005/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST- this is the page i got it from a while back, i cannot find the exact zip but the raid driver is what you need from intel and on the install of windows where you want to select the drive to install, you select that driver. one of the raid drivers should work. the version i used at the time was Intel RAID Win7-8-8.1 VER13031001

Could you just clone an existing boot drive onto the XP941 & be up & running without reinstalling windows?
@mrbit109 жыл бұрын
yes, you can clone... but if you are hoping to see the boot drive from the clone, no as that clone would need the Raid driver anyway or unless you had the driver already. This is going to change in the coming months as newer motherboards or updated chipsets wont need this much work.

mrbit10 good point. How do you like the drive? Do you see a big boost in speed with the XP941 over an SSD? I am considering buying one as well.

ArmyFtBall yes, in moving huge amounts of files or for me, moving database bakcups it is better than my EVO. as for and this is my use, small database writes, only slightly, but we are talking, tiny, tiny bits of data in small DB writes which would not really make a noticeable difference anyway.

+mrbit10 Any difference in terms of OS start times? Is it a good idea to move the main installation there or just use it for r/w-intense applications? And finally, why did you pick RAID over AHCI? Won't it boot with AHCI enabled?

I have the same motherboard (rev. 1.0) and I would like to buy Samsung 960 Pro. Do I need to set a RAID mode If I want to install OS on M.2? What If I just plug in SSD and will try to install Windows 10 like an SATA SSD?
@mrbit106 жыл бұрын
SATA requires no real settings unless you want to create a raid, this is for Samsung's specific pcie ssd, not sata
@CHarvelCHannel6 жыл бұрын
mrbit10 This settings is only for that motherboard (Z97) or for all modern motherboards on Z170 and Z270 chipsets?
@mrbit106 жыл бұрын
the settings i have in this video are for that specific mobo, later generation mobo's do not usually have detection issues with PCIE ssd

mrbit10 Does your SSD support NVMe? All this settings...maybe it's because your SSD doesn’t support NVMe? I wanna buy the Samsung 960 Pro, but I really don’t know if I will have to face such problems? (Set the RAID and etc.)
@mrbit106 жыл бұрын
This specific board does support nvme but you asked about SATA which is not nvme, it's not about SSD support NVME as NVME is the controller interface, like SATA but at greatly different speeds. You can get SATA SSD or NVME but the speeds for NVME are usually PCIE SSD, i have not seen implemented for any other bus.

I have apprehensions about the build quality of Gigabyte boards. Maybe not so much the build quality but the technicians. I have owned a lot of people on KZbin and Gigabyte was no exception : ) I admit Gigabyte is not more prone to fail than any other company but having to educate the technicians at Gigabyte was sad news for me : ( I am glad you like their products.
