Are there any disadvantages of hooking this into a boost line vs drilling and tapping a whole?

It depends on the vehicle. Some vehicles do not have the option to connect to a boost line.

Only the LB7 has that line because it is a non vgt turbo and has an external wastegate. All other duramaxs are vgt and don't have an external wastegate. The LB7 wad 2001 to 2004 model years

My setup utilizes the T fitting off the boost line from the turbo. I want to install the ppe valve on the turbo line as well, would i install the valve upstream or downstream of the the T fitting?

The T-fitting should be installed on the MAP line the PPE valve gets installed on the wastegate line.

Your boost gauge will come with the t-fitting.

@@gageweir579 Sorry for the confusion. The boost/vacuum gauge comes with a t-fitting for the vacuum line. If you purchased a boost only gauge, you will need to purchase a t-fitting separately depending on your application.

The boost line runs from the intake manifold directly into the back of the gauge.

Just installed this gauge and it lights up and all but the needle won’t move, what could be the problem?

Double check your boost line connections. Depending on your vehicle the gauge may only read when actually in boost. Unless you have a boost/vacuum gauge, then it should read when the vehicle is started.
