About to order the Ohlins HD 776 shocks for my 21 RGS. Looks like a cake walk to set them up.

Does these shocks change the stock ride height? Great Video!
@EZMotoTim2 жыл бұрын
It depends on which shocks are on your bike. This model is the shorter version, but it didn't change the ride height because the stock shocks were the short version.

May I ask a question. Just got a new set of Ohlons. Enjpyed your video. 1 have the HD 159, 13”. On you 774 / shock fully extended, bike off the ground - how much travel downwards tomthe rubber bumper domyou gave?? Mine looks to be about 2” ? Afttrr O set my Sag , R3 at 25mm. That Leaves only about an inch of travel before it contacts the rubber bumper ?? Is yours like that?
@EZMotoTim3 жыл бұрын
With the bike on the side stand, there 1-1/4" down to the top of the preload nut and 1-1/4" of shaft exposed from the bottom of the shock to the rubber bumper.

Just wondering what the handling was like I'm assuming those shocks are 13 inch thanks
@EZMotoTim4 жыл бұрын
The shocks I installed are 12 inch. The ride and handling are so much better than stock.

Hi Tim, great information as I am looking to do an upgrade myself to my 2019 Electra Glide Standard. I also have the 12" shocks by default, what I wondered was, if the free sag is 5mm and now it is 9,5mm on the Ohlins, this would set you 4,5mm lower, right? Wouldn't it require to raise the height of the Ohlins 5mm to keep the same riding height? I just don't know if I should order HD774 or HD772 (13"). The HD772 I can also lower 5mm in height and the sag is larger, i've read the rider height would be 12" on the HD772 and 11,5" on the HD774.

Sorry to take so long to respond. I had to go back and review the measurements. 4.5 mm is about 0.2 inches. I doubt you'd notice the difference. The purpose of measuring the sag loaded and unloaded is to determine how tight the spring should be. If you want to keep the ride height about the same as with the stock shocks, then get the 774s. If you want to raise the bike get the 772s. You'll get an excellent ride with either shock. (Remember there is also an option for a heavier spring. The spring you need depends on your weight and whether or not you carry a passenger all the time. ) Thanks for watching.

Hello brother, I bought a 2021 road glide special and the shocks are terrible! Can you tell the comparison from factory shocks to the ones you installed, was it worth it?
@EZMotoTim3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the stock shocks are terrible. Yes, it was definitely worth it to put on the Ohlins. We put them on both our bikes. Thanks for watching.

Most looking for comfort change to a 13 inch shock. Was there a reason you stayed with a 12 inch shock?
@EZMotoTim4 жыл бұрын
I stayed with the 12 in. to maintain ride height. A longer shock is not necessary. They provide a really comfortable and responsive ride. Of course it would probably be fine to go with the longer shocks.

Earlier this year when I was a total HD noob, I blew off buying either road glide or street glide because of the rough ride. My road king... even with the shitty stock shock rides "plush" compared to the glides. ( The higher profile tires on the FLHR are better for comfort too.) So now I know that when I demo these bikes again this week, that I will have to upgrade to the 13" Ohlins shocks. Thank you.

Curious if you investigated other brands of shocks? I've seen reviews on Legends and Fox now for late model HD's. Very informative video on the install!
@EZMotoTim5 жыл бұрын
I did not look closely at other brands. Several friends installed Ohlins and raved about them, so that was the biggest influence on my decision to go with Ohlins.

J. T. After riding my wife’s Roadglide with Legends, I went to our local dealer that had a Legend test ride motorcycle. Both rides were amazing! The wife’s 19 Roadglide has about 25,000 miles on her Legends and they have had zero issues. We ride state roads and backroads. Very seldom any interstate, so they definitely are not easy miles on suspension. I put the Legend revo arcs on my Roadglide and have about 15,000 miles on them. (Since I bought them after the wife had hers)

Hello Tim really enjoy your videos. I'm looking at a 14 triumph trophye and would love to here your experience with the brand. I find it tough finding info on youtube about reliability and a general cost of ownership.

Hey Tim, thanks for the video. It's been about 6 months now, are you still happy with the Ohlins shocks and would you choose the same ones again for your Road Glide or a different model or length?
@EZMotoTim4 жыл бұрын
I'm very happy with the Ohlins shocks. The model/length is fine. I haven't bottomed out since installing them. I've ridden to and from California and Rapid City without issues.

Any shocks will be better than the Harley stock. Take this as general rule of thumb for everything stock when you buy your bike brand new. We all know the game. Harley put cheap parts to maximize their gain. I spent 18k before on my brand new bike even before the bike went out from the dealership. I think Harley knows we will change and custom the bike anyway. Why they bather to put high quality parts. People spending high dollars abut buy CVO and still removing the high premium parts and switching with their own taste.
