So what did you have to do when it came to the fusebox being sits on the fender but harness wires tied to the framing very tight then there is the brake lines thsts on the firewall what had to be done with them? I know also the power steering hoses have to be extended as with the radiator being lifted up bit just so much involved if doing a 3" lift not sure its worth it if was only bumpers & gas filler having to alter wouldnt be bad but tons of things under the hood makes it look so much more involved..

NIcely done. Entertaining as always. Get a bed rack. Real men have bed racks. Posers have fabric bed covers. :-) My wife would kill me. its already challenging for her to get into the truck. Now getting into my Ram is easy because the boards deploy with the door opening and its a nice easy step up. Not so much with the rock sliders. How bad did it hurt your mileage? More rocking and rolling at speed? Higher center of gravity comes at a cost.

@Tacomaholic2 жыл бұрын
35" tire will always rub on the fender for a 3" lift. Any lift larger than 3" is going to involve either more of a body lift or some kind of drop bracket which will rob you of ground clearance. I'd definitely do the 3" suspension lift + 1" body lift again.

Isn't there much that has to be done under the hood if using two inch or above body kits as to extending wires, hoses, brake lines against the firewall being once body is lifted it would pull on the brake lines thats mounted up against the firewall as the lines are attached to framing going to each wheel for brakes? then you have the fuse box which cluster of wires thats already tight going from frame to the box mounted on the inner body wheel well, I looked at my 2017 tacoma rest tacomas would be same as well down to 2000 trucks it just looks like too much of extending things to put any body lift kit on the newer trucks.

3" on my 88 was safe and stable for the 120k i put on it, for the bigger lift i had to extend the steering column/shaft. Added a welded peice for length and pounded in New roll pin to reasemble. If not done that way the column wont collapse in a head on collision and it will destroy drivers chest cavity. Truck didnt have abs so just re routed soft brake lines. 3 " body lift did nt raIse c.o.g. as much as my 3" susp did. Ran 33" tires never rubbed. 35 atr too much power imho, regards

2013 Tacoma, already have icon suspension lift and 35s are my next mod. Got the method 701s on my rig. My question for you is: body lift is one way for sure, without getting a bigger suspension lift, is the other option just more trimming to the fenders? Thanks!

Trimming for the fenders but hammering the inside of the fenderwell/firewall because the larger tires are going to be hitting that area when stuffed up in there.

Body lifts does give the truck ground clearance especially the higher it goes as a 3" above it all so gives much clearance to fit much bigger tires under the wells with rubbing that suspension lifts does not give. suprised you only set for a 1" body lift you might as well installed the 3" lift.
@Tacomaholic4 жыл бұрын
Body lift helps fit larger tires, but doesn't give the frame any more ground clearance which is what you want when offroading.
@BrunoGenovese4 жыл бұрын
@@Tacomaholic The concept of lifting a truck body is first to gain more room for bigger tires to fit without the rubbing which then gives the truck to raise a bit more frame clearance from the ground as also will give even much more clearance from ground to the body from getting damaged to sides & front & rear of the cab & bed, I use to have 84 ranger 4"lift to body 3" lift to suspension that gave me much clearance to have narrow 40" tires & much height never having to worry about damaging the body of truck in rough terrain.

Been wanting to do a 3" bodylift for sometime now researched on everything that has to be done under the hood under the truck everywhere front rear sides etc there is definetly much to do doing one, the only thing that i see could be a problem doing the 3" bodylift after doing measurements is the line from the ac compressor that goes up to & through the radiator wall that conects to the condensor which as the truck is being lifted the line would be very tight from my measurements may even have to have the ac line made longer in order to have some slack, & of course there are other things that have to be dealt with doing these lifts it is very time consuming to say the least, times i talk myself into moving forward on it sometimes i talk myself out of doing it so still waivering back n forth on this bodylift.
@Tacomaholic2 жыл бұрын
Any reason you want to do a 3" body lift versus a 3" suspension lift?
@BurtBowers2 жыл бұрын
@@Tacomaholic Suspension lifts have more cons then pros, they have not only rough riding but changes the pitch on the driveline that causes vibrations, early pre mature wearing of the driveline joints & alignement problems, as with bodylifts you get none of this at all its only time consuming to install them but yet gives much clearance to go with bigger tires & nothing extra needing done as trimming & cutting fenders, cost wise to have someone install bodylifts going with 3" one can be expensive but then even suspension lifts can be as well therefore if I do go with 3" bodylift I would do it myself.
