one thing I noticed owning well over 20 mx500/mx650's is the wheels are not balanced and need to be tried in, some are better than others. I saw someone that had taken dirt bike rims and used the original hubs and new spokes. Looked great and rode smooth. Also had street tires.
@PatOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, I noticed that NONE of my (4) razors have perfectly well-balanced wheel/tire set ups. I can't avoid noticing vibrations over 35 MPH.
@xpndblhero51702 жыл бұрын
This looks like the same tires I have on my Mx650..... I can't help but love the supermoto look and it rides SOOOOO much better. Edit: O no, don't try the tire levers... I broke mine trying to do that and I had to get tire spoons to change them, it's insanely difficult to do but the spoons helped, but what helped the most was a little bit of soapy water and I left the tire in the sun for about 20 minutes before installing. Edit 2: Should have stayed w/ the 16x3 in the front and 10x2.75 or 10x3 in the rear.... You have to consider that the tire expands at speed.
@PatOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. The tires are stiff and tire spoons are much more efficient. Also 10x3.0" MAX for the rear. I realized that too late, but this was simply just an experiment to find out what it would actually take to fit a tire this large. I get some rubbing on my motor casing due to tire expansion, but only if I go over 40+ MPH.
@xpndblhero51702 жыл бұрын
@@PatOutdoors - That's what I've been telling people too because I see a lot of expansion on the 10x3, I couldn't imagine a 10x3.5... That would scare me, I'd be afraid of it popping at speed because it rubbed on the motor or something. Still an informative video and I appreciate that you actually succeeded on doing that w/ bike tire levers... I had to order spoons and wait 3 days before I could ride because mine was being particularly difficult and I broke my levers. LoL
@xpndblhero5170 Жыл бұрын
I recommend the 16x3 on the front and a 10x3.0 on the rear.... Its almost perfectly balanced and it rides like it's on rails, I'd like to have pit bike rims so I can fully trust the beads because 40+ mph starts to get scary when you remember you're on a "kids toy". 😁

Check out my later videos on the 72V Razor. I ended up installing a DNM 190mm Rear shock and Alter Ego fork, which raised the bike about 2.5" overall. You can't put a larger wheel on the rear without at least getting an extended swing arm fabricated. The stock fork will not fit a larger front wheel either. You can probably do a 14" front wheel with a pit bike fork though
@JonahNAloha Жыл бұрын
Apologies this comment was ment for a razor mx350,
@PatOutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@JonahNAloha Unfortunately I have limited experience with those bikes besides overvolting the stock motor. I don't believe you can fit that wheelset size on that frame and fork. It would take a lot of fabrication and it may be easier to start with a larger bike if height is what you're looking for.
